Yep, other than maybe needing some matte finish to take the shine off, or if you have the time rusting the rail sides and a black wash on the ballast and then matte finish, its pretty darn nice.

I agree, and with a bit of natural weathering and blending into the scenic materials around it can look very realistic!

I found the videos below interesting. Even not understanding what he says the images give an idea of what ballasts exist and their looks.
