Blowing out the leftover Winter blues, the Swanage Railway fronted all of their operational homefleet steam locomotives to produce their 2018 Spring Gala dubbed the "Works Outing", held over the 23rd-25th of March.

With regular shuttle services operating between Swanage and Corfe Castle with a branchline set, and 2 sets frequently working 'Over the Road' towards the River Frome, the Purbeck line produced a very intense timetable for the event.

The event saw the regular return to service of Drummond T9 30120 on the railway, as well as welcoming Bulleid light pacific 34053 "Sir Keith Park" as a member of the homefleet.

Services 'Over the Road' were aided by the use of resident Class 33 D6515 "Lt Jenny Lewis RN", working top and tail, to haul services from Norden as far as the River Frome bridge - the current boundary of Swanage metals.

Locomotives:
BR Class 33 - D6515 "Lt Jenny Lewis RN"
Ex-SR Rebuilt 'Battle of Britain' Class - 34053 "Sir Keith Park"
BR Standard Class 4MT Tank - 80104
Ex-LSWR T9 Class - 30120
Ex-SR U Class - 31806

All footage filmed on Friday the 23rd of March 2018.

I'm an occasional visitor to the area as my daughter works in Poole and lives nearby, but I've never visited the Swanage railway. I guess I'll have to work it into my schedule on my next visit!
