Hello
I haven’t been on the site for ages do to health etc. Could any of you could help me what is the difference between Märklin 37347 stand alone red and black 4/4 and the Märklin 29487 which is part of small starter set.

As far as I can tell there is no difference between those two locomotives.

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

I have both the 37347 Re 420 LION and the one from the 29487 Set. As far as I can tell, both models are the same (other than the road number). I bought the start set one to obtain the additional coaches and to have the ability to run them in a push me pull you consist. I have not as yet had time to test the models to see how well they operate in such a manner.

When I eventually get around to testing them, I will decide if I want to run them together or whether I want to run one with a S-Bahn consist and the other with IR or EC traffic.

I also have the pair of Roco Re 420 LION and I am more confident running those head and tail.

Running locomotives at each end of a consist is a concern when it comes to signals, switch tracks and other locations where one locomotive losing power could cause a consist to derail or otherwise cause an incident, even if both locomotives respond to the same digital address.
