Someone, several are bound to know.

I've been told about this but am unsure is it a museum, an exhibition or what?

I've tried all my creative google searches but find nothing I can make sense of.

Can a local please enlighten me ?

Cheers

Yes, this is the greatest Marklin collection in the world... but it is very secretive. I have only heard of such museum and seen a few private photos...

I believe many of the items pictured in this book are indeed from this collection.

Yes that's what I was getting as well but of course that's NOT what I was looking for, it would have to be Märklin-related for me to be asking here :-)

I'm glad it's not just me if a local Marklinist does not know it either, but as per Paul's reply below, it exists

Thanks Paul, yes it does appear to be quite secretive, so I think it is going to come down to someone who has actually seen the 'display'. Your response is a start at least ThumpUp

Cookee,

Perhaps this is what you are looking for: Collectors Fair?

Found it with a google search. I don't have any personal experience with this fair.

Harold.

Close but not quite, I have already checked that link.

It refers to an event, but I'm trying to find out about the location or venue and whether it is also some form of museum or other exhibition/display environment?

It is a book,and a book only.

"Livre" is the French word for "Book".

Collection does not refer to a collection of trains in a museum but it refers to a collection of photographs of marklin trains over the years.

The French title freely translated means "Marklin, the mirror of its time".

The book is still for sale on internet between say Euro 50 and Euro 100.-.

Be aware: text is in French only.

The Marklin book "Mythos Modelleisenbahn" (Myth modelrailroad) and the Marklin book "Die legende lebt" (The legend is alive) are worthy replacements.

Hi,

For decades Frans Bevers was able to keep his name secret. Also the collection was only shown to very few eyes. The collection is a large, private museum. In the last years he gave up that confidentiality.

The ABEELE book mostly shows items from that collection. The text is not always trustable but the photos are unique. Many things are published for the first time and nowhere else.
The book exists at least in Dutch, French and German. Probably also in English. It was withdrawn after a very short time so it's pretty rare. I was told that the Märklin - family didn't like it. The German edition is so rare that is not even found in the national libraries at Frankfurt and Leipzig. The Dutch edition was announced in the Dutch edition of the Insider-Magazine 6/2001. I attach the two pages. German customers never were informed.
At least the German translation is of limited quality. It was not translated by a native speaker and also not by someone who has knowledge about trains. If you can read French, that edition would be my favourite.

The Dutch text does not reveal where the pictures were taken,it does not say either who the owner of the items was.
The text in Dutch is a fairly accurate translation, apart from the occasional spellingerror.
As is common for Marklin marketing talk nowadays, the text is in general terms without being very specific about given items,it is just a general praise about Marklin and its history, middle of the road advertising chat.

Hi,

To be more accurate: At least the chapter about the ancestors of the family should be read with caution.

No, Mr. Bevers is not mentioned. But the pictures are taken from that collection.

Regards

Markus

Thank you Markus, very informative.

So the big question is....

Is the collection accessible by the public, or special arrangement to be viewed, and Physically, where is it located?

Cheers

Hi Cookee,

The collection is not public. The exact place is kept secret. But important parts of the collection will be part of the MÄRKLINEUM which will open in summer in Göppingen.

Markus

Maybe also relevanty for this topic: have you checked his company in sattelite view on google maps?

Frans Bevers location

In front of the company (parallel to the road) you can see a piece of track with 2 locomotives on it. One is Series 80 diesel shunter (V60 DB equivalent), the other is a series 26 steamlocomotive (BR52). The steam locomotive is non operational (its boiler was used to repair the series 26 of PFT-TSP), but the shunter can be used to push the loco back and forth. I have heard the track will be expanded with an additional curve. The steamloco is numbered as 26.102 and painted in NMBS green (a fictional number, the real numbers ended with 26.100 and 26.101 is the loco of TSP).

All shis can be observed during the yearly collectors fair which is held inside the buildings. It is very nice and very well organised. Lots of personal to help on parkings etc. The guy who entertains children with a live steam layout is an old colleague of mine, he gave me some of the info above.

If you go to streetview currently you can see what was there before the locos. An old M2 carriage that once stood near the Marklin exhibition in Blankenberge near the sea.

Just received the book in Dutch from a German trainshop,Huenerbein in Aachen.
The book was still wrapped in foil.

Focus is mainly on the early years, and pre WW2.
Many beautiful photographs of seldom collectors items.

The general comment in the frontsection of the book says that the photographs were taken from various different collections, including those from the Marklin museum at Blankenberge,Belgium (still there?) and the Rail Toy museum at Oostvoorne,The Netherlands (no longer there).
Also, three private collectors allowed the taking of photographs at their homes.
The pictures of motorcars came from yet another collector.

The book does not hold a date of publishing,it has a section with brief comments on Marklin catalogues which stops at the year 2000.
Funny enough, the book shows a printed price in Euros of Euro 40.-.
The euro was introduced on 1st January 2002.

Although the book is said to be in Dutch,it is actually in Flemish (Belgian) which is fairly similar to Dutch, but not all the time.

The ISBN number is 2-88468-019-5.
