I’m looking at redoing my feeder lines to support my HO building lights. I would like to re-connect the building wires to my existing feeder system made up of the Marklin 7209 distribution strips and old style plugs.

I would like to get thicker wire than the Marklin and Brawa brand due to the lengths I need for the feeder wire. I was thinking 🤔 22 guage, but I’m not sure if it will fit in the old style plugs.

Any recommendations on the brand and guage I should get?

Ken

I used 16 gauge stranded wire which you can get in various colors like brown, yellow, red and blue from Home Depot. A smaller gauge would be easier but I needed long lengths and there was some concern on voltage drops due to resistance.

For some of my feeder wires I use 18AWG and it just fits into the old style plugs. Not much screw tightening room but it does work so 22AWG should not be a problem.
