Hi, I have been following various threads on this forum. Found many rather interesting. Specially the comment by John regarding the exclusivity of this forum when it relates to Maerklin or other products. I see all these discussions and information as positive.

On the negative side I also have some experiences:
Like the Porsche museum in Stuttgard selling me a Piko Taurus instead of a Maerklin (39835). Someone picked it up for me in Germany and once in South Africa and I opened it, I realized what they did. Because of costs I could not return the loco. I still have it. Cursing

Then I procured an E 120 (37538)with no "Owners Handbook". Inquiries on this forum resulted in some well meant offers and suggestions, but all just not the correct model data or so.
It was also suggested I contact Maerklin. I contacted Rick at Maerklin who diverted my a request someone else ( have to look up the name) who sent me the manual of 37539 which of cause is the wrong data. On the Internet I contacted three sellers of this E-Lok, all of them had the box included, BUT no manual.!!!!

Sorry for the negative stories, but here is the last one. This time I procured a krokodile (37568 ) grey chassis and yellow wire handrails. (No plastic posts )
Two of these rails are missing. None available in South Africa. They come in a kit E-191178 ( Zubehor-Set Griffe Vorbau ) One set in France, one in Sweden and one at the Marklinshop Germany. I have a temporary delivery add. in the Netherlands so I decided to register on www.mearklinshop.de, order the kit and pay per PayPal. But here it cumes. Generally in South Africa, we only have a street add. including a number, NO HOUSE NUMBER. So what happens ??
The application gets rejected every time. So I have sent them an e-mail requesting some help. Needless to say a computer recognized the message with some promise of a reply in the future. Mad
I may have to contact a very slow and somewhat reluctant Agent in South Africa.
DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS REGARD.

On the positive side I have a few other locs and wagons all awaiting a proper layout. Cool
Thanks, Hannes

Hannes,

try sending an email to service(at)maerklin.de.

As far as the 37538, there is no manual listed on the current version of the Maerklin website. I will try to see if I can locate a pdf for you.

I don't understand what you mean about a street address including a number. What number?

Regards

Mike C

This is a typically german problem with the translation of forms...

I would simply split street and number so you have both boxes filled:

For Example: "1 John street" would become:
Street and number: "John Street"
House number: "1"

One wonders why Märklin bothers trying to export anything sometimes....

It's not just Marklin. Many on-line forms become impossible to fill in unless you conform to their "Standard".

As an example, I have had to give up paying my subscription on-line to Continental Modeller magazine because they force you to include a postcode and then they take my Gibraltar postcode as a location in UK, changing the amount I am charged for postage. After two years when I spent days emailing them back and forth to rectify this I have given up and post my renewal the old fashioned way!

This is not a translation problem, the German form shows the same illogical fields.

BTW: When you activate the alternative shipping address, you have one field "Salutation" with the options "Mr" and "Ms" and one field "Title" with the same options. This is a translation issue.

Better than 60760: it is an ESU OEM decoder - some features are disabled, but it allows more adjustments than 60760.

Hi, Thanks for all the replies.

I will start from the bottom:

Steve: My e-Mail Address is hannesvz@netactive.co.za. A pdf. file to me will be GREAT.!!!!
The E120 Lok 37538 and 37537 are the same electronically. Including some sound and only programable ( MS or CS I do not know ) No switches. The
more reason to have the Manual.

HO: The "Registration Form" accepted all the entries for a shipping address in the Netherlands, but my own address gets rejected. Every time after
entering all data en activating " Proceed" the form comes back saying I must complete the RED space. There is no red space indicated, but my
"House Number" is deleted. Then the "password" and House No" is Identified with an *. Shifting or creating numbers does not resolve the problem.

Ray F: I have sent two e-Mails, no response. Our local agent Model Railroad Specialist, Claremont, given the part number, sees many problems, claiming
he only deals with Maerklin direct. He would not give me the details so I could follow that route.

Mr B32: My address: Sunbird Drive 257, Langebaan. Area code 7357, RSA. I think the "Zip Code" is our Area code 7357, but we have no "House Code" at
all in these fields. I can move 257 or create another number for "House Code" as I like, none works.

Mike C: I hope the above clarifies your question.

SO I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP YET.Cursing

The good news. Today I procured the three Messershmidts and conductors van, set. Maerklin 45090. So at least I am "flying".BigGrin

Thank you all, I will report.

HANNES

For those who care: the class is "BR 120", not "E 120" or "E120".
Even Märklin's product description mocks about the incompetent "E 120" written on the sides of the 37538.

Thanks again for all positive comments.

MrB32: Remember I had to use the additional registration option by inserting an alternative "Shipping Address". It is in that mode that my registration
backfires. Still awaiting some response to my eMails to Maerklinshop.

Mike C: I take note of your protective comment. I use extensive anti-virus/fishing/.......etc. programs in anticipation to such attacks. I am on alert.

HO: I did not try to mention road numbers/rail road numbers and others, regarding my E 120 loko. I used the general numbers that any ordinary
enthusiast will immediately relate to and know what I am talking about. I used that identification on the internet many times and were not
disappointed.
On this forum I could not find any comments regarding the E 120 user manual, nor any informative discussion about the unit.
I got positive comments to my tweet some months ago, but none to the correct point.
Part of my original tweet evolves around the fact that I DO NOT HAVE THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR THIS UNIT.
So excuse my un-informed description and knowledge of it. Hopefully some day I may learn and understand.

In the end, in still am seriously looking for the OWNERS MANUAL of the E 120. Any person having one please contact me.

Thanks,
Hannes.

Steven, THANK YOU, THANK YOU..........

The copies of the manual received.
I will convert the files to pdf format print them and they become part of this specific E-Lok.
Your name will also be attached to that "Booklet"

Immediately some info available, yes HO it is BR 120. Will use that term in future.
Four "F" functions available for the Lok. I the near future I will test all functions with the BR 120 and check the correctness of information and conformity.

Thank you all for valuable information, that is what this forum stands for.!!

Hannes.
