Dominator from NZ is coming to town as is PJMärklin from Tasmania. The planned meeting date is Monday April 9th, because this works for both of our star attractions. We will meet in the City (of Brisbane RollEyes ) again as that is where Dominator is staying - the venue will depend on the number of people who express interest in attending the meet up.

We haven't had one since November 2016 and before that it was just after Captain Cook left the place (just after Nev was born).

So if you want to check out how good looking Dominator and PJMärklin really are, then this is the event of the year.

I am sorry that we can't make it a weekend date, but Dominator will be busy the previous week/weekend with the Piped Band competition.. Perhaps that might be an opportunity to see Dominator in action. I will be trying to get some tickets to the event. So if there is interest in a pre-meet meet up then we can try that out too..

Sooooo as Madonna says, "Express yourself:.. LOL

Edited by user 16 March 2018 13:00:24(UTC)  | Reason: Bolded the date for some one who asked me when it was on.. Sigh!

Would love to join but timing is bad as it is Commonwealth Games (04 to 15) & as I am in the bus industry you can guess where I will be.

Just think Dave, they originally planned this contest to be in the gold coast. What a shambles that could have been. The Ozzy nationals are run every 2 years so the organizers may have originally made the decision to hold their nationals anywhere between 2 -4 years ago.

Dereck

Of course, it was Adrian that told me it was at the Brisbane Boys College, so I knew before some of my mates in Adelaide.BigGrin

That reminds me..

If you want to see Dereck and his band play - the event is on Saturday 7th April at Brisbane Boys College.. My guess is that it will be held in the big oval on the Moggil Road side.. Parking will be crap in that area, so I suggest that a train will be the easiest way to get there.. The really good news is that unlike the Commonwealth Games (down the road) this event is free AND I see that there is a BEER tent.. More details about the day are here ---> https://australianpipebandchamps.com/ FD and I will be there.. Miss 18 will be busy travelling in Dave's bus on the Gold Coast..

We won't be able to catch up with Dereck on his big day as he will be in focus groups (at the BEER tent) with the rest of the band.. LOL That's why we are meeting two days later - after the hangover has passed... Laugh

Well! What can I say? The beer tent is the best place to meet and greet the opposition players. We are seasoned players, trained in moderation, and therefore resilient to the after effects. I am sure you will catch up with us on the day. Each event is only about 5 mins and the warm-up doesn't take more than an hour. Look forward to meeting with you.

Okay, the meet place is:
51st Street,
325 George St,
Brisbane City QLD 4000

It is very close to where Dereck and his FD are staying..

I will confirm the time (no later than 10:30 and probably 10am) as soon as I have PJ's confirmed flight arrival time, and I work out if we are parking in town or catching public transport.. The Irish Pub is on the same street, just up the road at Cnr George St and Elizabeth St, Brisbane CBD 4000

Have fun,
the only thing I remember of Brisbane, the inner city consists of King and Queen streets. I used to life out in Chermside (Army barracks) and later in the Valley, I couldn't wait to get out of Brisbane (humidity) and head towards the gold coast (just for the breeze and dryer conditions)

I couldn't see any of you at Parliament House greeting Prince Charles. BigGrin

Well we have Queen Street, and George Street named after Charles' grandson Flapper - did not know they were in Brisbane.
Terrible climate except for April and September.
I came from Toowoomba, so much more acceptable there.

Dereck and his FD arrived. My FD and I met them in the beer tent at the Australian Pipe Band Championships, which were held at Brisbane Boy's College in Toowong/Taringa.. We had a pretty awesome afternoon, consumed much wine and pizza and managed to solve a few of the world's problems..

On to Monday... Smile

Time was the issue here. At some stage Dereck had to play the pipes - so that did not leave much time for problem solving. LOL

Sorry about the delay with the report.. Busy busy busy..

I collected Philip (PJ Marklin) from the airport and we drove past my house on the way to 51st street in the City. Kimball was already there - some say from dawn - when we arrived on the dot at 10am.. A few nano seconds later Dereck (Dominator) and his lovely FD (Adrienne) appeared on the scene. Not long after that the legendary IXLDoc arrived and we ordered our coffees. Then Damon and Donna (Damon's awesome FD) joined us a little later. Much chin wagging was under way until just before Noon when we all headed to Irish Murphy's Pub on the corner of George and Elizabeth streets.

We took over the upstairs room and had a mighty lunch and much liquid (I was designated driver so just Lemonade for me!).. Heaps more chin wagging until it was time for me to take Philip to the airport for his flight to Sydney.

Here is a group photo.. I am not in it - someone had to hold the camera.. LOL

But here is my lunch. A beef and Guinness pie! Very very nice..

I think that the consensus was that Dereck needs to move to Australia along with his FD and the Norton.. Laugh
