Hi,

My layout is getting close to being complete and I am looking at adding the small details that will bring it to life. Specifically, I'm beginning to think about remortgaging the house so I can buy a few figures to populate my town.

My dilemma is what will be the best way to secure them to the layout? Deluxe materials make a material called "Tacky Wax" which is recommended for this purpose, but how well will it work with the tiny Z scale figures and their tiny scale feet?

I'll be really grateful of any comments regarding this material or of any recommendations of alternative ones.

Thanks very much!

Chris

Hi,

I am a fan of Delux Materials, but I must report that their "Tacky Wax" did not work for me. I use Scotch "quick-drying, Tacky Glue" - so far, I have not lost a single figure, vehicle or building that I have glued down with this and my layout is portable and I frequently tilt it to get through doors, etc. The only problem is finding it in the UK and I now just order it on Amazon.

I also used Tacky Wax and like Carim was very disappointed . I now just use whatever glue I have on hand. Some take longer than others to dry . Eddie

Super glue works for me too.

If attaching them to a plastic surface such as a station platform from a kit you can use the kind of poly cement you use for assembling kits.

The Noch glue makes it easy to remove the object. I used superglue and plastic cement in the past. It's difficult (even impossible) to remove the figure without damaging it.

I guess PAB is talking about the Noch Hin und Wegkleber (Ref. 61120). Great stuff!

In the US we have an INCREDIBLE clear wax-type product designed for dollhouse furniture and figures. I love it because it is not permanant at all, yet still works well, named mini-hold:

Super cheap. and one tub will do a whole lot of preiserlings!

In addition to the "Hin und Weg" glue, a type of post-it-note style sticky glue that will allow re-positioning the figures over time,

... another option I've seen is gluing (super glue aka CA ) to a clear disk to serve as a base, which then allows re-positioning as well. Of course its gotta be a clear base, and is slightly visible. Not sure how well that works at z-scale as you want the base to be as thin as possible.

Thanks very much for all the very helpful comments and suggestions. I'll definitely be striking the "Tack Wax" from my next order and, adding the Noch product in its place. Carim's recommendation of the Scotch glue was helpful, too, as I will be paranoid about losing figures, but I also like the idea of being able to reposition them.

Thanks again,

Chris
