I am looking for info on the red caps missing from this item. Are they necessary? Are they a common part still made? I am selling it and am wondering if I should I put effort into replacing them or sell as is. I have been keeping an eye out for them in my spare parts piles but haven't come across any yet.

Laurie,

The red caps look just like the buttons from a 7072 control desk. You might want to pull a junk one apart to see if they'll fit on.

Also, how much are you interested in selling them for?

Hi Laurie,

In the 1967 spare - part book you can find these instructions. These boards were made for dealers to test signals and switches. Sorry, German only:

Peter - Sorry, I have already listed the one that is complete on eBay.

The one that is missing the caps also has a dent in the wood and the instructions have a crease in the corner. If you still are interested in this one PM me. That would save me the hassle of finding the caps for it.

I wonder what other goodies like these are /were made by mother "M" over the years for testing various accessories for use buy dealers . Probably would fill a double garage with just these items & would be on many a wish list as few would have been made .

Cheers Tom in Oz .

Hi Tom,

you only would fill a very small garage. The size you could still use LEGO. The "Prüfbrett" (testing board) was the one thing, the "Dornpresse" (arbor press) to mount wheels the other. That was all the special equipment offered in the pre-digital era. Pdf from 1967 showing the tools: https://dl.dropbox.com/s...67-werkzeuge-ma-1067.pdf

In the early digital era a decoder-tester was sold to the dealers: http://www.modellbahnkel...e/Decodertester37100.htm

Regards

Markus

A Dornpresse! That's what those things in the wood tray are for. Another mystery solved! I hope I didn't give the green part awayScared

And thanks for the tip on the red caps. I got them replaced in a jiffy and will be putting it up for auction when the other one ends.

Hello Tom and everybody!

I won the auction on Ebay😊 If possible, can you scan or photograph the instructions and put them here for all to se before you post the "signalprüfbrett" , would be most interesting for all readers of the thread.

Im on the verge of installing the signals on my layout together with 5117 and 5202 , some 75 units, good to have them tested before installation☺

Regards Henrik Schütz

Congrats Henrik! Here are the instructions page by page. I hope they are clear. For those interested I have put the other Prüfbrett up for auction today. I'll also post something when I list the Dornpresse, even if it is just the collars. I'm afraid the press may have been given to goodwill. -- Laurie

I have the earlier Signal Tester in my collection. See picture below. The part number of this was 446 SP, and it is a simpler device, with provision for testing only the early model signals.

It looks a little dusty, but it's very old!

Hi Henrik,

You are right. The two lights are for the two circuits.

Markus,

Thanks for the link to the 37100. Does it have any practical use anymore? Or is it just a collectible? I also found with it a "test decoder c 80". Same question - can it still be used?

Thanks,

Laurie
