Can you please confirm that your CS2 is(was) referencing the BETABEREICH update when you saw this?

FYI - As a related aside,
A query, to Marklin service, on TT support a while back resulted in ...
"we will offer a new operating element for the turntable with the coming update 1.3.1. Then you will be able to create your own operating element, which have the same account and position for the tracks as the turn table on your model railroad."

=====================================================
The following points were added in the update to Software Version 1.3.1. for the CS 3 and CS 3plus:

1. The storage for locomotive icons was expanded <to allo use of the SD card>
2. Operation of the 7686 or 7286 turntable with the 7687 decoder was improved.
3. Other changes
- When editing functions for mfx locomotives, the entry template can also be used to assign the icon for the locomotive.
- The groups in the CV editing for mfx locomotives and mfx solenoid items can now be collapsed and dropped down.
- An expansion was introduced when managing s88 data during the read phase. This expansion indicates during detection when activating an event which controller is interrupted currently by the execution of the event.
- Times smaller than 1 second can now be set when inserting wait times in events

Same here. They are not mentioned on the website any longer. Perhaps they've pulled them.

You can ridicule it and call it a circus. But they probably had their reasons. I would rather that they pull it than they potentially brick my cs3 or break something else.

Sorry to butt in on this topic but we are looking at buying a CS3+ for our largish HO digital system as both our CS2 and CS1 died. We have about 30 engines and over 50m of track and are running 50 turnouts from track power, and have found all previous power supplies inadequate to run say 3-6 engines, with some using smoke. Particularly when we run our Big Boy. So we are considering buying a 60101 5amp power supply. Can anyone with experience of this arrangement give us feedback on problems they have experienced or is this feasible even though M does not recommend it.
Cheers, Dad & Dave

I bought for my CS 3+ a 60101 power supply, although I do not need it yet. But it is functioning with its 5 A very well. I also have a track box for 1,9 A and 2 MS 2. The difference is the start of the mfx locos. Using the 5 A supply the locos always start immediately without any problem. With the track box (and MS 2) sometimes I have to clean the tracks manually before they start running. I am still watching and testing this item by different cleaning methods versus no track cleaning. For my own surprise my layout is working quite well, although I did not clean it for a longer period. Amazing, because I have set up a special cleaning train to get rid of these starting and sometimes running problems because of these small dirty spots on the tracks..

Indeed Maerklin does not recommend the 60101 for H0 only for gauge 1. But in a Maerklin Magazine they described, how to built up a layout. And they themselves wrote giving real power to the layout, they use the larger power supply and showed it in a picture as well. I remember that, because it was so obvious they were acting against their own recommendation.

The problem is the cabling. Most people are not aware for the problems arising using too small cable profiles. The danger is a cable burning. So I use a cable of 0,23 in² (= 1,5 cm²) diameter as a connecting cable from the CS 3+ to the layout. The CS 3 comes with a connecting cable of 0,08 in² (= 0,5 cm²) diameter. For their layout with the 60101 (5 A) power supply Maerklin wrote in its magazine, they are using cables with 0,12 in² (= 0,75 cm²) diameter. As you see, it is not an easy topic and I also did not read very much about it in all communities. But it is a great danger, because the layouts normally does not have a safety installation with fuses for the security. But I found some topics about cable burnings.

If the dead part is only the track output, i.e. the screen, navigation and devices (MS2) are still operating, i would suggest getting a booster.
(Sure you loose the programming track)

Personally I think the booster (60175) is the way to go anyway, and would be quite happy with the 60VA Power supply (60061) driving it/them.

If you think it might have been layout shorts (e.g. Yellow shorting with Red) that caused the CS1/CS2 to die, then I suggest that a configuration with boosters, and not driving the track directly from a CS, is a highly advisable risk mitigation decision.
It is cheaper to fix/replace a booster than a CS.

I have moved my discussion to a new topic so I may get a wider community comment titled "CS3 + 60101 for HO system".
