Does anyone have any views on the Marklin 72442 braking module vs the less expensive Viessmann 5232?
I mean apart from the wider argument for not using braking modules at all in favour of total PC control.
Thanks
Jabez

Hi Jabez,

I know you don't want to raise the issue but I gave up using those braking modules mainly because of the added wiring complexity. I used Marklin, another German manufacturer and finished with my own. Later I got fed-up to do wiring Under the lay-outCursing
I switched to PC control (Rocrail). Yes there is some learning to do (forums help) but so much flexibility later and added security that I wouldn't consider returning to wired signals
Here is my train in operation:

Cheers

Jean

Jean,I fully agree with you but for the moment I'm still using braking modules and yes the wiring is becoming a nightmare. from my activation point to the stopping point its about 3.5 m and the length of wires needed is 28m for 8 tracks, than I have opto coupler sensors which need another 28m. and this is only one set up, I have 3 of them so the total of wires: minimum is 56m x 3 = 168m and than there are all the smaller connections.

I just want to get it going and when I had a good running time I'll hopefully get the courage to install the Rocrail system.
