Hi All

I have recently purchased a HAG IC 2000 steurwagon but the slider makes a clicking sound when running on my marklin C track. I have written to HAG about this and they have not bothered to respond. does anybody have a similar experience with this type problem and is there a solution.

I am also worried about the slider damaging the track as well.

Tim

Hi,

Make sure the slider is flat. If it's bent, up or down, it will create the clicking sound. Straighten it carefully with the help of a plier or similar.

Hi, Tim,

Peder's reply is most likely correct: make sure the slider is straight.
After some use you can where the slider shows wear.
If the edges of the slider are too steep or if the centre is bent up or down, this can lead to noise.

I have a Märklin Rheingold that was very noisy out of the box. I tried to bent the slider straight, but gave up after a while.
Now it has a Roco whisper wiper and the slider noise is gone.

This can happen with any brand.

HAG could reply that you should check the slider for deformations.
Regards
Tom

You could also try to replace the slider with one of the Märklin silent sliders, have a look here: https://www.marklin-user...-pickup-shoe-209217.aspx

The Märklin silent pickup shoe is very silent and much cheaper than the Roco version!

If I remember my Hag IC 2000, the slider had a mechanism which controlled whether the lights were white or red. This design was AFAIR licensed from Fleischmann.
I am not certain that you can simply swap this slider for any other type.
One possibility would be to install a normal Hag slider on the rear bogie and change the red/white light selector to a function decoder.
