I am currently trying to get things organized and priced for our trip to EuroWest out in California this July. The S870 was in with some the cheaper items that no one would buy at our last show. I thought it was a reproduction made in the 70s or 80s because it is in such good shape. I'm slowly learning.

Should I also rethink putting any of these other cars in the $5 box?

Thanks,

Laurie (who doesn't recognize vintage except when looking in the mirror)

Hi Laurie,

The S870, the 372/2 (red) coach and the early 362 tipper are all rare - for pricing look at past ebay auctions. You will need to check the tipper for originality though - can you take the silver part off the frame and post a picture of the end?

Regards
Peter

Thanks Peter -- Here's a pic of one end. The other end has a shorter nub.

Hi Laurie,

Your 362 might be a fake as it has red plastic under the silver paint. Most originals were made using green or grey plastic. I'll leave it to someone else (more qualified than me) to make the final judgement though.

I agree given the paint is red underneath it may be a fake. Caution on the S 870 loco it's also in near mint shape which could indicate re-painting, even if just on the striping. Nonetheless the whole set could maybe be worth $300 or so.

Here's a recent sale on eBay DE:

Best,

I have more questions - sorry.

How can I tell if the s870 is a repaint and not just in really good condition? Do I mention that the plastic part of the tipper is probably a fake? Do I know this for sure? I hate being deceptive in my descriptions. I just can't do it intentionally.
Would these and my vintage O gauge sell better on the German Ebay site, even with shipping. I ship over to Europe on occasion already. I guess a lot of people there watch the American and British site. How do I even get onto their Ebay site?

Thanks again for all your insight and time!

Laurie -- I still owe some O gauge pics to Paul aka CCS800KrokHunter3 aka Poochersmoocher
