Hi,

Does anyone know if the handrail/piping/ladder details on the Marklin steam locos are glued in place or are they just press fitted into small holes?

Thanks,
David

I'm not sure for the newer models where these details are plastic.
On the older ones, they were metal wires that put through holes in the body and secured by bending flat on the inside.

David,

The small plastic details on almost all of my Märklin locos from the last 15 years are simply press fitted into small holes as you suggest.

On some of my models that seems to be fine but I still find stray parts from some models and collect them for later reattachment. I have a croc that will not hold onto its inductive magnet assembly for more than about 5 minutes!

When I put those parts back on my locos and coaches I use a small amount of glue if they do not need to be removed again for servicing. That eliminates the need to reattach them again, but it also means that I am less likely to lose a detail part that would be very hard to replace.

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.
