Hi Silvano,

They are made by Bachmann...... which means, Back off man, real crap (Canadian english for cheapLaugh )!

Now Bachmann UK is really different story! Go figure?

Do you have any Bachmann locos? If so, I will be glad to take them off your hands, Michel. Wink

Also, the second loco, the Santa Fe, is a Walthers Proto loco. Their top of the line.

Walthers is a good maker of US model trains. The only exception is with respect to its couplers - at least in the Train Line. Here I think the couplers are better.

Not all that Marklin makes is gold, Michel, and not all that the other train companies make is garbage.

In any event, that is my 2 cents' worth.

Good night everyone from Toronto - or good morning, depending on where you live. BigGrin

For years and years Bachman USA made cheap inferior products for the North American market. The products are made to a low quality standard. The proof is at the train shows, year after year you see the same stuff up for sale. Nobody who knows model train buys the product me included! Even the new stuff is highly regarded as not worthy!

Now Bachmann UK is a totally different story! These products are made to a very high standard and are keepers!!! Bachmann UK products are sought after and cherished by collectors. I know because also collect British 00.

These are my opinions and was done as a tool to enlighten the uninitiated. Helping others is my intend in posting my collective knowledge about Bachmann USA.

Regards.

Out of curiosity, Michel, did you ever own and use a Bachmann USA loco?

Do you know anyone who does/did?

Maybe I should buy one - NEW - just to see for myself how bad these locos really are.

I am not kidding and am not trying to be unkind to you, Michel. BigGrin

I know that Lifelike is not considered very good - I bought a used one and now it barely runs.

I did not know Bachmann was that bad.

Hello Silvano,

Yes I owned a Bachmann 44 ton diesel. Which was the first the last, ever from Bachmann! Reason being this ThumbDown wouldn't even go through a switch!

Lifelike is low quality but Lifelike Proto and Proto 1000, 2000 is better. Just watch out for split plastic gears in the locomotives. They all split open after they dry out with age.

Michel
