***** I meant to do this ages ago Blushing ******

Dale (AC Jacko) is coming North (and west) 18 Dec - 4 Jan for Christmas..

I am keen on a short road trip.. In fact, depending on the date that suits everyone, I will be putting the L plates on Miss 17's car and making her drive me to the meet.

Please express your interest here.. It may be possible to car pool a little from Brisbane..
(not in the same car as Miss 17 - too scary yet Scared Scared Scared )

Soooooo.. I am out for 25 (Christmas Day), 26 (Boxing Day - recovery), 29 (my birthday) and 31 December, and 1 (not safe after NYE) and 3 (Miss 17 is working at the Gabba) January.. Every other date is fine for me..

You might have been able to do Ipswich to Brissy/the Gabba the back way in under 30min in my day (pre 85) but I bet it would take over a hour now days.

Not going to give you much time unless you kick off real early.
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .

Adrian, isn't she old enough to get there herself. Yeh I know, today isn't like it used to be. We played on the streets in the 50's and it was safe to go into town in those days without a guardian. Bloody shame eh. the world has got too small now. We used to be insulated from the crap that went on in other places.

The problem is the crap Brisbane Transport service.. To give you an example. My 86 year old mother went into town on Sunday. At 14:45 she parked herself at stop 18 to wait for the 15:00 bus. You need to do the because the rotten things can come early too. It did not come. So she waited for the 15:49 bus, which also did not come. There was not another scheduled bus until 17:19.. So she rang me..

There is a bus service from Chermside to the Gabba, but there is no direct service from where we live to Chermside. She could take a bus to the City (assuming it turns up) and then another to the Gabba, but if the Gabba bus is full (likely at the halfway point) then she won't be allowed on the bus and she will be late for work. If she is late for work more than twice she loses her job. So Dad (that would be me) drives her to Chermside and picks her up at 21:00...

For some reason bus routes from Aspley (outskirts of Brisbane) run every 15mins all through the night.

Our train service stops at 6pm weekdays (no service on Sundays) and the last bus from the City (if it turns up) is 22:00.. We live about 5km from the City and, yes, I have walked home more than once when the taxi queue was miles long and there were no buses.

She does not have a licence yet.. Still around 75 hours of driving short of the test requirements. And yes - no parking around the Gabba on game days..

Must admit, thew bus service in wellington frequently pissed me off at night and I often Walked home to Miramar late at night.
I frequently walked from Redford Barracks to Pollock Halls to see my future wife.
And I do remember catching the bloody wrong bus near the Gabba and ending up at Rainworth instead of the city. !!!.

Walking is fun.

My apologies to all as it was a hectic time in Queensland once we go there as my Ford Ranger blew an engine near Renmark, then we were towed back to Adelaide. Reset into another car and made it Ipswich but as you could imagine, I was on calls daily to Ford back in Adelaide as to who i fault with a truck that only has done 45,000Km on a diesel motor as still not worn in !!!

I am back in Ippy again in Oct 2017 (dates being finalised for a wedding) so will aim again for a catch up.

A very frustrating chirssy

cheers Dale

See you next time. The patch is very important as it was the very first of the unofficial patches.

Are you still with the sqd.?
Cheers
