All:

I have a Marklin HO layout using M track presently installed and shaped like a big "U" (!2 ft. by 12ft. by 12ft).

I'd like to add to my layout and in effect close in the U, by installing a movable arm (up and down).
This would permit me to raise/lower the movable arm and access the center my layout.

I could then access the middle of the layout, with out crawling on the floor, as well as add car storage yard, switches, track, etc.

Anyone have experience doing this type of project or can provide me a reference and share their experience?

Thank You. Happy Holidays

Electrically what you are asking for is how to install a removable bridge, and if you look for removable bridge in the search function you will find a lot of info.
Mechanically what you are proposing is a very large bridge section and I don't know of any discussions on this topic, but posts on modules which can be slotted into exhibit layouts might be a good place to start looking.

Wow! They are very interesting solutions to a fairly common problem. Thank you for those links too.
