Hello, Everyone:

I am considering buying Marklin's entertainment car. See link below.

Does anyone have any feedback on how well it works?

Thanks.

Hi,
I have this wagon, and i think it runs like any other marklin wagons, the soundmodule is quite nice aswell, and make the train come alive. The first thing i did with the wagon, was to lower the sound, because it felt a little bit dominating. It sounds much better than I anticipated, and i would say it is quite easy to add own tunes to the SD-card.

Thank you, Thomas. BigGrin

Does this version have the dancing figures I have seen in another cat no. on You Tube - you can actually see there the couples dancing.

Hi,

My wagon did not contain any dancing figures, the figures that followed the wagon are "normal" preisers, they look like they cheer and dance, but there are no movement. Since the wagon have controlled lightning, it might look like the figures are dancing, I dont know, I haven't added my figures in the wagon...

That's another car, Märklin 4998.
Quite expensive nowadays - and cannot be controlled with Mobile Stations.

Well, only if you replace the German Techno-funk tunes that are supplied on the mini-SD card with your own selection Dave ... BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

Well, I plan to do just that. Put in Italian music! on a German wagon. BigGrin ThumpUp

In fact, I also hope to add some station announcements - such as " Attention, Attention, the intercontinental train from Rome to Toronto is leaving from platform 1. All aboard"

In fact, in the past I fund a site that would give you such announcements and you could play with them. ThumpUp BigGrin

You may want to try this free program of text to speech - it's hilarious. Maybe we can add some of these announcements onto the entertainment car:

Has anyone tried to add (or swap) sounds to the entertainment car?

What about announcements?

Any feedback on point would be appreciated since I just bought this car.

Thanks.

It is dead easy just follow the instructions. I have added several German pop music from the period. It is rather fun.

The car will play them in some order and you can skip a number or go back in the playlist.

With regards to station announcements I guess you can throw them in amongst the music so every now and then it will play a station announcement instead of a number. Basically it plays everything you throw at it, so one could also have it play a podcast or have it read an audio book while you work. Your imagination is the limit.

If your willing to work on it, there's one for €15 listed today (plus shipping, which is more than the car): http://www.ebay.de/itm/M...17d79:g:WIYAAOSwEzxYRFDV

With box and decent shape do range from 300-500 though. For that beep sound, I'd rather the the newer version and convert the inside to a dancing solution using new technology.
