Thanks, it seem that small details make thing look so much better. I can't wait to get all the vegetation done - at the moment all that green is just a base layer.

Very cool.

When compressing a larger scale to a small scale .. I'm thinking about using the actual values at the stations, progressing out and somewhere between stations there will just be a magical skip, as I have to cover 932 km of distance (Hamburg-Altona <-> Mannheim <-> München) inside a 2 car garage space.

indeed yes, in fact the skips are very prototypical, when they lengthen a route they can end up with a gap. They do not change the distances. It is also possible to get an overlapping area if they realign a track and it becomes shorter.

In the Buchfahrplan it may say something like this

40,4
40,5 = 78,4
78,5
