Found on trackside near the station.

I check every rolling stock and nothing missing.

Do you know what rolling stock or something that part came from?

See Image.

Hi Steven. Just a thought. Could it be an ash collection box under a steam Lok? I have a couple of parts awaiting their places too. Sometimes I find them

trackside and since I still use M track as well as C track, I find most near the M tracks. These bumps must make these separately applied detailed

parts come off. Hope you find it soon. I haven't found mine yet. Peter Huh

I find stray parts on my track - sometimes I know where they came from and sometimes I do not.

When I don't, I just stick them in a box with the others and one of these days I will find the right home for them.

I hope that you figure out your stray part eventually. I would love to hear where it came from!
Regards,
Jim

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

Hello Steven,

Sorry, unlike many members of this forum I do not have the years of experience nor the sizeable collection to offer any commentBigGrin

However, I took solace from the fact that such a longtime and extensive collector as yourself has the same "found-bits-dropped off-but-where-are-they-from" problem as I have.

I have a small area of the layout that serves as a repository of such "lost property" which slowly reduces as the loss is realised.RollEyes

Regards,

PJ

For me it looks like a "Batteriekasten" (battery container) that was originally pushed/glued into the underside of a passenger car.

I concur with Stefan that it is most likely a battery box part that comes from the chassis of a passenger coach. Some locomotives may have a part like this situated between the bogies, but I think it is more likely from a car/coach.

Stefan and Mike are very correct.
Might be silver paint on the glued ends, picture is not detailed enough.
Might be your clue to the car it came from.
Maybe a silver base where the part came from.

It is not silver paint marked. It is full of glue mark.

One point to Steventrain for noting that it is glue residue. This suggests that it might come from a car/coach that had previously been repaired. Most Maerklin cars/coaches have had parts like this affixed to the chassis by melting of the plastic, thereby creating a plug that prevents the part from falling out.
