Hi

I have a 39192 whose decoder seems to have decided to retire. My MMS2 can find it (after a few goes) but the lok just sits there and does not a thing other than perhaps switching on its lights in one direction that can then not be turned off. The lok works fine in analogue mode. My question is this: what is the best decoder to replace the defunct one with? I do have a spare decoder taken from a railion 36600.

Thanks

Cameron

You will need a decoder with 21MTC socket.
NEM-compatible decoders will do.
Forget about the decoder from 36600 - no socket.

The brand is a matter of personal preference. I would most likely get an ESU decoder, but others prefer Zimo or Märklin or whatever.

Märklin 60942 is not NEM-compatible and probably cannot be used.

Tom

Thanks very much Tom

Happy to go with ESU - is there a model you would suggest?

So Tom

I found this - would this suit and work with MS2?

Thanks

Hello Cameron,

I would suggest you to reset your decoder and put in the original settings. You're able to do that with your Mobile 2. It is good the light can be on, even if only in one direction. I'm sure you don't need to change it.

Best regards
Stefano

Hi Stefano

Tried to reset, no luck. Have ordered an ESU 64614 as a replacement. Thanks to both you and Tom for your help.
