A similar discrepancy we have in Germany too, e.g. between the Prussians and Bavarians.

Prussia lost almost all his territories during the forming process of Germany and the rest was renamed in Berlin. Whereas Bavaria is still existing, even expanded by Napoleon before it joined Germany as a state. The difference occurs especially recently more and more again. A worldwide well know example is the construction of an airport.

Munich closed its old airport regularly May 16th, 1992 at 22:00 at night. Over night they moved the complete equipment from the old to the new airport. The new airport was opened next day, May 17th, 1992 at 6:00 o'clock in the morning. I was an eyewitness of the complete moving.

Whereas Berlin planned to open his new airport on June 3rd, 2012 and tested it for months in 2012, when they realized May 8th, 2012 that the airport was not yet finished for an opening. And now, only 4 years later, they still do not know yet, when they are able to open the new airport. But he new railway stations are already ready for 4 years: a central station ( no, not a CS 3 or CS 3 plus) and a suburban station for local traffic trains (the so called "S-Bahn"), but this all twice. One at the old terminal and one at the new terminal.
