Hi,set 46056. farther xmas will be sending this down our chimney this xmas,Love
The wagon set is dated as, running condition at the start of the 1960s. What I would like to know is, did the box cars last until the early 1970s. I know the Fs wagon may have done, the twin wagon transporter I'm sure didn't but really not sure about the SBB box wagons. Tar Dan

My collection is based on Swiss rails post-1968.

The 46056 contains cars which have markings form the late 1950s/early 1960s. By the end of the 1960s, most international cars would have been equipped with RIV markings and UIC numbers. Domestic cars likely continued to be used with national markings for a longer time, but by 1970, most would have received new markings as well.

This was the markings that I recall from my earliest exposure to such cars in photos from around 1968: http://images53.fotki.co...2699268/SBB_K_001-vi.jpg

This was the markings that I recall from visits to Switzerland in the mid-1980s with the 21 RIV 85 SBB CFF and UIC markings: http://www.tee-usa.com/store/media/roco66203.jpg

I would expect that the early 1970s would have had the RIV markings but without the "Fuer Gueter Die Bahn" logo.

I have an early 1970s freight train made up of the box car from 48807 and others from the 26730 Set, assorted FS box cars from the 47878 and 47889 Sets. Freight trains in Switzerland can be either domestic (to and from points in Switzerland) or international, meaning that they can contain freight cars from almost anywhere in Europe.

My Krok pulls either that train or the famous Kies train made up of Maerklin's 46331 Weiacher Kies cars, as seen here (historic version):

Thanks Mike, I thought you would know the answer. As Marklin say, the start of the 1960s. It will go with my late 50s bb12000 in blue 37335. Thanks again for the info. cheers Dan
