Hello Marklin fans,
I have a crazy idea for my first C-track layout. I know that I can run only one train at a time (maybe more with DCC).
What do you think about my project ? All your advices are welcome !

Can you do the same with double slip turnouts instead of crossing? It would be more interesting to run.

Hi, Chris!

Welcome to the forum!

Long cars look better on straight track.
Short couplers engage more easily on straight track.

No sidings to park a train, no shunting, just driving around in circles.
Even with two trains running at the same time it will probably become boring rather soon.

What rolling stock do you intend to use?
How much space do you have?
I don't know what your preferences are, but I think it should be possible to find a better track plan.
Regards
Tom

Think about access as well. Your most complicated parts of track are the farthest away from the edge. A tallish person can reach about 2.5 to 3 feet to do trackwork and scenery.

Hang on a minute here guys, if Boischaut wants to be crazy that's his right, just as it's your right to be normal.......

You shouldn't dismiss him out of hand!

Dominator has the right idea... "Just do it and let us know your reactions to it." (maybe craziness is a Kiwi thing.....)

H0 and jcrtrains raise some valid points, but if you're happy to work around / with those, I don't see why not!

Actually, I think it could work as a tramway or an industrial layout especially if you used dense urban/industrial scenery to act as view blocks.

What Steramnut is saying is that you have NO CONTROL over the train once it is in motion. In other words, the train runs its course but you cannot ALTER the direction it takes.

It is much more fun to be able to determine where the train goes while it is running by use of turnouts.

I found this out just recently when I bought a cross piece and managed to have the train run inside the oval in one direction or another by flipping the turnout switch, manually or (now) digitally (in two spots ThumpUp ).

So, while your idea is not at all crazy, it can be improved in order to maximize the fun.

Thank you for sharing the list of the track pieces, very helpful.

Thanks for your kind comments. The double slip turnouts are a very good idea...but it's a little bit expensive for my little pink pig, if you see what I mean.

Take a look at this from our friend El Cheapo - post no 30.

The turnouts are not so expensive here.
