Interesting upcoming campaign seeks to unearth Marklin trains hidden in basements and attics... In German. Use Google Translator if you don't read Deutsche.

Sounds like they are giving some special pricing/motivation to convert the older analog stuff to digital.. if it gets traction it will be interesting.

The idea is to build a bridge between generations.
Older material such as old transformers and metal track to be exchanged for modern digital equipment at attractive conditions.
Basically a good idea,if you watch your wallet that is.
Funny enough, the campaign starts in North Germany, not in the south where Marklin is,i do not know why.

About 8 years ago, I somehow acquired some old blue transformers, which I had no intention of using.
Then Marklin offered a new white one at an attractive price, if the old blue one was shipped to their factory.
Even though I had to ship from Australia, I considered it a great deal, and so I have transformers "to spare" to fire up all sorts of accessories and the like.

Is this an attempt to shrink, or maybe join the second hand market that Florien Sieber blames for Marklin's slow sales?
