Hi Märklin friends, hi railway folks, surfing through the internet with my new magnificent, high speed gaming computer, I found some interesting PDF files (in English!) from Märklin. These files are digitalized books published in the single analogue era from Maerklin. So they are pretty old and no word about a digital system, but good basic information, which is still valid today. As one example I want to point out the page 57 and following pages in the “Maerklin Miniature Railway Handbook” about the electrical equipment for working Maerklin railways. For your pleasure I add an third file about the new 37015 S 2/6. This article is almost sold out, but Maerklin just started to deliver the following model 37017 S 2/6. Hopefully you like it. Regards Wolfgang

Any idea why the claimed PDF's are being transmitted as XLS (MS Excel) files? (<name>.pdf.xls)?
Maerklin%20Service%20Manual.pdf.xls Maerklin%20Miniature%20Railway%20Handbook.pdf.xls
This activates my malware alarm... so not going to open the documents. |

This activates my malware alarm... so not going to open the documents. Thanks for the hint. I do not understand myself what is happening. I just loaded them down to my computer again and it worked perfectly. I reload the files and please try again and write me the result. If it still has this malefunction we should contact the admin.

Minok, I've had this problem a while back, but not with this forum.
If the PDFs are still being sent as an Excel file, you just have to remove the .xls from the end of the file name.
So, instead of Maerklin%20Miniature%20Railway%20Handbook.pdf.xls, you should have Maerklin%20Miniature%20Railway%20Handbook.pdf

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time. |

Odd. So now at home I'm downloading them on my smartphone and I see what appears to be PDF content viewed as text (source) rather than sent to the PDF viewer. It's as if the MIME type of the file server the are coming from is set wrong. Edited by user 27 September 2016 20:54:29(UTC)
