A gentleman on the Italian forum 3Rotaie by the name of Alberto posted this nice video on the latest rail car by Marklin.

It weighs less than a feather and is made basically with plastic and little else.

The looks and sounds are really nice. I am not so sure how sturdy it is, however.

200.00 Euros.

Enjoy:

Hi Silvano, thanks for posting that. I wasn't sure what sounds the railcar had but it seems to be well up to the standard of more expensive models.

When you say it is "made with plastic and little else" do you mean the chassis as well? I would have thought that the chassis would be metal as in all other Marklin models with plastic bodies.

Do you have a figure for the weight? I would like to compare it to a 3016 railbus for example.

Märklin have symbols that show you what is made of metal.
This symbol is missing for this train - it's also missing for the Gläserner Zug. This symbol is also missing with the two-part LINT with the 37xxx numbers.
Looks like plastic frame with plastic body, judging from the product database.

Tom

For the avoidance of doubt I believe the lok number is 36641 not as shown in the title. I reckon for 150 quid that is a very good piece of kit.

No, Ray, sorry.

I just went by how it felt when I picked it up at the Marklin shop here in Toronto. I did not buy it.

200 Euros - $300 Cad $$, is a nice chunk of money for me. Something so light does not reassure me it will last.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Another test video here (German comments):
36641 Review on Youtube

Weight is 217 grams according to the review. Noisy model motor at higher speeds when prototype sounds are off.

Thanks Tom,

I'll weigh my 3016 to compare.
