Dear fellow Marklinites,

I have been controlling my M-track with a 6021 powered by a 6647. I just bought a CS3 for more fun and more sound functions.

My question is how to power the analog switches and signals when I use the CS3 to control the locos. First, can this be done? Second, if it can, does anyone have a circuit drawing that shows how connect the cables, please?

Thank you !

Pierre-Nicolas

As far as I know there should be no difference from the way you do it with the 6021. I also control my trains digitally and turnouts in analogue manner, and I did not alter my wiring when I changed from 6021 to MS2.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Pierre, as Ray mentioned there is no problem just do the same as before however if you like to run your trains automatically you could run into problems but again if its just a simple switching do the same what you've got and just run your locos via the CS 3.

Thank you for the response. The 6021 has four port to connect to the 6647 and the track. The CS3 has only two lines, the red and the brown, to connect to the track power. There are no additional port to connect the Brown and Yellow lines for the signals. Hence my problem. The connection for the CS3 is not the same as for the 6021.

Hi, Pierre,

You still need the 6647 for yellow and brown (power for accessories). Don't forget a connection for brown between 6647 and track.

Tom

Pierre, a 6021 and a CS 3 are similar as a controller, instead of having separate units, e.g. memory, keyboards, the CS 3 has it all in one. sofar all your other control is concerned they are all external, e.g. S 88, K 83, K 84, signals etc etc.

Thanks, everyone. If I understand Tom correctly, the 6647 needs two brown connections: one from the 7272 (which plugs-in next to the yellow on the 6647) and one from the track (which plugs-in next to the red on the 6647). The power comes only from the CS3 red line, NOT from the 6647. Correct, please?

Yes.

The 6021 has four connectors: yellow and brown are the input side, red and brown are the output side. It is possible to drain some power from the input side for turnouts and other solenoids.
The two "browns" are connected inside.

With the CS2, the input side is shielded and you may not drain power for the M track solenoids.

Brown from the 6647 must be connected to the track to make the lights in the turnouts work.

Tom
