<br />I just won on ebay, a Ma #4950, FS freight wagon. Do you have one also? I am also working on my Ma 3011, restoring one I found at a swap meet, in many pieces.

<font face="Verdana][size=2]I don't have a 4950 Bausatz myself (yet). That's not a very common model, so congratulations on finding one! I have some Bausatz models myself and as fate will have it I had planned put those up today! Don't have the 4950, though. Had a few chances to buy a non-Bausatz version of that FS wagon but always got outdone by another bidder. As I never get into bidding wars, I let it go each time (I set my price, then walk away until after the auction is over).

The 3011 is wonderful, I don't own that one yet either.

Right, well let's do some Bausatz models then! All of mine are in their constructed state, so from a collector's point of view that's too bad. However, there's not much fun in looking at a model in bits and pieces!

UserPostedImage

This is the 4802 Bausatz version of the 4002 passenger car.Interestingly, my KOLL says it should be a Bausatz of the 4002.4, but in reality it is based on the 4002.5.

UserPostedImage

Those are the 4900 tanker and the 4914 flatbed.

UserPostedImage

The 4905 box car and 4918 refrigerator car.

UserPostedImage

The 4908 and 4909. There's something interesting about the 4908. Look at its box: the drawing shows a box car with lettering that says "Chocolat Tobler". But Märklin put a sticker on the box that reads "Nicht TOBLER-wagen sonder bausatz KUHLWAGEN". Apparently they ran out of Tobler stickers biggrin.

That concludes my rolling stock! There'll be one more epidsode with rails, accessories, books, etc.

Nice wagons Oscar. I did buy some similar in the last few years off eBay, but sold them when I decided to stick with the kinematic coupling stock for my layout.
I understand why you would keep them, because I keep (and have purchased more) of my original Fleischmann stuff from the late 50's.
That 4908 might be rare too!!

The particular BP carriage had plastic buffers and if you weren't careful you've melted the back of them. the idea was to put the buffer through the hole and than use a solder iron to melt the back of it enough to secure itself against the metal plate.

Hi Oscar,
Thank you for sharing all this with us.
And saying that, I don't just mean the collection , but the *love* for Märklin's production of yesteryears.
Doesn't much matter what is in the collection, it's all about the way you describe it.
Thank you for reminding us what this is all about...and that "money to have it all" is not the answer.
Met vriendelijke groetenwink

I just found this thread too, what has happened to Oscar ? Your comment, John, about the soldering Iron for the Buffers triggered my memory and I had at least one, maybe two, Kit model Freight cars as a kid, (about 10 or 11 y/o then). I was trying to remember if it was my V200, but I think I remember seeing one in Model Crafts & Hobbies, in Wellington where most of my Marklin & Faller stuff came from, & thinking I was glad I had a ready built one. The split pins in the couplers Oscar mentioned, was a trigger as well !!
Lovely collection, photos and stories, thanks for the memories Oscar ThumpUp BigGrin

Oscar,
I have one left of these kit carriages and somewhow it survived, (like Kimball I sold all my earlier carriages mainly 2 axle tank cars) although no box for it.
I just found another one, a BP tank car and the one I was looking for has somehow dissapeared for the time being, must be camera shy.
It also gave me a good reason to clean one of the axles and the other showing 50 years of patina or should I say mainly dust & grime

Hi

Just found this site as rediscovered my marklin. The starter set you refer to is exactly the same one I have and was given to me in 1964 when we were living in Germany! I also had bought for me the 3001 locomotive which is still in excellent condition! I have started buying stuff for it and hope to relaunch my set in a couple of months,
wonderful that somebody has the same as me!

My parents weren't wealthy!

Hi all,

Four years after the last post on this thread - and almost 35 years after obtaining this kind of stock - I started to photoshoot my "old" DB, DRG and DDR collection this year.
Although many models still have to be added, I started a special Car Collection Page on my site with pictures of them.

If you are interested, please have a look at the Index Page.
Click at the right bottom side on the Roman numbers Ia - III.
