If you need a hotel: my favorite is the NH hotel, just on the backsite of the Utrecht Central Station and Eurospoor event in the Jaarbeurs halls.
It is not 5 star but the beds are perfect,so is the breakfast, they have a bar too.
A short walk through the station to the other side brings you to the interesting Utrecht city centre.
Eurospoor is a big event, attracting a lot of people, please do not wait too long if you need to stay overnight!

I have been there,i have seen it,and i never came back home empty handed!

Utrecht is also home to the Dutch national railwaymuseum.

Hello Paul,

I would really like to attend Eurospoor sometime, it sounds like a huge event!

As I may have mentioned to you in the past, unfortunately it was not near that time of the year when I visited Utrecht.

Regards,

PJ

Philip,

Nice pictures!
You have been at the foot of the Utrecht belltower, the highest in Holland with 112.32 mtrs.
The cathedral was built between 1254 and 1517,first catholic,as from 1580 protestant.
The middle section (schip=ship) collapsed in 1674 and was finally removed in 1826.

You also saw the statue of our wartime queen Wilhelmina, mother of our former queen Beatrix and grandmother of our king Alexander.

And the flowers of course,we have flowers almost year around.

Thank you.

No need to hurry, surely there will be another Eurospoor next year.
Gives you time to put some money aside.........

I might go this year for a brief visit, hands on the back, empty wallet.
Need to buy the new 390205 01.5 sometime next year, and some others too.

Oh well.......

Thanks for the recommendation, I've already booked a room there, based on the location and rating from hotels.com :) and since other are happy with the hotel, I believe I will as well;)

One week to go before Eurospoor . We are driving along the Mosel at the moment enjoying the fog and rainy weather but plan to arrive in Urecht on next Thursday afternoon ready for a big fix of Marklin .

Cheers Tom in Oz or should I say De .

16.5 hours to go before the doors open and Aladains cave will expose its wonders to the hordes of unwashed old age pensioners who will shuffel thru the doors to spend their last Euro on some must have item . Opps that includes me .

We have found a very small camping site almost free of charge only 10 minutes from the centre of town , so a quick bus trip from right outside the door almost will have the FD and myself ready to indulge when the doors open at 10 am. Hope to see some known faces as we peruse around the kilometer or more of used items for sale.

Cheers Tom in Nl slowly enjoying a nice rose obtained during our travels of almost 8 thousand kms to date .

Tom,forget about the old unwashed pensioners, try and concentrate on the second hand market in the back!
Wait till say 11 am and you will not have trouble passing the entrance gates.
I know this is difficult for a Marklin addict but it really pays off just to bite your time till the rows have evaporated.
Also try to spend an hour or so in the old town of Utrecht, there is plenty to see,and wine and dine too!

Happy hunting!

Paul

So - how was it?

Let me guess - great layouts, tons of bargain rare items, leaving with empty wallets, full bags and big smiles. I am looking forward to going in 2016 but in the mean time, if anyone can post pictures, that would be great.

Thank you

Plenty to be found on Youtube if you search for Eurospoor 2015 but i am sure the best is still to come.
Please give people some time to recover from an overwelming experience.
