Hello All,
I want to get my Marklin stuff running (I got the steam locomotive as a gift)
Would C Track be the way to go? Will the lights of a digital locomotive come on using a regular Analog controller?
How do you connect the C track to the wire leads of the controller?
Has anyone here been to John's Photo and Hobby?

Greetings Danny, Which loco did you get? Yes,C track is the way to go,it is easy to operate and Marklin seem to have put all their money on it. Digital loco and lights will run on analogue trafo provided the digital dip switches in the loco (probably the tender) are set correctly, the manual explains the settings of the switches. There is a simple two wire Marklin connection cable for C track, the two connection shoes fit on the metallips underneath the track, any track will do. Are you having a Marklin controller/trafo? Please note Marklin needs AC power from an AC controller!!!!!!!! http://www.ab-treinen.nl...C-rail%20aansluiting.jpgcheers, Paul. |

Danny, welcome to the forum, for us to help you in the best way possible it is always necessary to give us as much information about your query. loco cat. number, bought new or used, what type of transformer and C-track will do the job.
past Transformers have come for different uses, some for analog only especially the blue transformer, this transformer has a 24 volt reversing voltage and this will ruin your digital decoder. later transformers whereas the reversing voltage is lower can be used or any digital transformer if you ever intend to go down this road. Always ask for help if you're not sure about anything
regards, John

Hi Danny. Welcome. You will learn lots here. John's advice is very good. Don't use the old analog metal blue trafos with your digital loks. You may damage them during reversing. Cheers,Peter ps - they are fine to use for lighting which is what I do.

A simple white Marklin transformer (trafo) will do the job. I would opt for a Marklin Mobile station to run the loco digital, with such a controlmodule you can hear all the sounds too if the loco has the sound module. https://www.conrad.nl/me...39_BB_00_FB.EPS_1000.jpg |

Hello,
Thank you guys for all the help its a 1996 model of a 2-10-0 with digital. For an analog controller you got any model numbers and pictures to look for and to avoid the 24 Volt blue old ones.
Thank you
Danny

We'd know more if you gave us the running number of the loco (something like "050 082-7" or "44 039") and the letter the serial number starts with. If the serial number begins with a "D" then lights probably will not work in analogue mode. They should work if serial number starts with "H", but I'm not sure about that. |

Then the lights should work in analogue operation, assuming the 3416 still has the original decoder.
And with digital operation the lights will work like they do in analogue operation: intensity of light is proportional to loco speed. |

Thank you to all.
I finally got the track I need. The C Track and some freight cars and the power pack is on the way!
Locomotive tested and works fine!
