I picked up a HAMO 3829 [ BR 191 ] a few years ago on EPay & have not given it a run till this morning . It had been converted to 3 rail & supposably digital . When placed on the programme track for the CS1 upgraded it was not a goer . Worked out how to remove the top body , 5 screws in hidden places & then removed the brushes to see what was stuck , still no go & then took off the brush plate which is a major operation having to remove the coupling rods & external transfer case to get enough room to get the brush plate off to access the anker , wheels now turned ok , counted the teeth on the anker ,7, & looking at the exploded view on the web there is no teeth shown, Part #245480 . I let off the 2 mounting screws a fraction & the motor will buzz but not rotate, but with no anker fitted wheels turn with no excessive friction I am concerned that a wrong anker has been fitted prior to me buying this engine . Can anyone advise which anker part # should be fitted & also advise what sort of Decoder ? is fitted to the engine please . See picture below . 5 pin anchor with 8 teeth: 1 Piece 386820
If it has the original Decoder: 960820 (it is DCC)
As to the decoder, can't say I recognise it, could be a optical illusion but a couple of the diodes look burnt. Could you do a photo of the other side Tom. |
Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under . |

I don't think anything is burnt, I think it is just paint on the body of the component. As there are no dip switches this is very likely to be marklins early DCC decoder (IIRC 6081?).
