Seems it is not an original idea. Look at Roco new item 78290 (page 26 of their 2014 new items brochure)....

Edit: Upps! Seems it is not correct because the Roco loco colors are a different painting scheme.
Please disregard this post.

Thanks for that Miguel.

The blue and Ivory of the Rheingold is slightly different to the turquoise and cream of the DB, is it not? Which one will Marklin be using I wonder?

So what's new part of all the re-production models, the only one I can see is a french steam loco and this could be another variation.

I'm still waiting for my Br290 from the 2013 new items. It's been on order with Lokshop for over a year now!

Mind you, I believe that some other brands are even worse, and you can expect a wait of two or three years after initial announcement.

The folks at Märklin should get rid of their Spanish language translator. In the Export Item Brochure, Switzerland was translated as "Suecia", which is Sweden in Spanish.
Switzerland is Suiza in Spanish.

Yes, exactly. That's what it should say. There is no mention of Spanish anywhere else in that brochure, so Suecia is all wrong, whether they meant Switzerland or Sweden!

To me it looks like a "cut and paste" error from another document.

At least it got us to look twice at the brochure. Maybe it was deliberate? BigGrin

I can understand that Ray..I do too!
However these are pure fantasy models: nor the 103 or the 120 were ever painted in these colors.
If I remember correctly the"Toy Fair Special" has always been a fantasy model
I bet you the road numbers will be 103 2014 and 120 2014...Wink
Last year Black Crocodile was another good example. ( numbered 14 2013..)
Yes, I loved it Wub and I bought it...RollEyes BigGrin

I don't know about the above photo and date.

I think Roco have sponsored a 103 to be re-painted into this blue and cream livery, but with the RHEINGOLD lettering on the side along with matching coaches.

That looks like a digital colour replacement. I have not been able to find a single photo on Google images of the 103 184 in ocean blue. I have never heard of any 103 ocean blue livery.

Well, that photo was a result of my Google search:
http://imagizer.imagesha.../103rheingoldblauxh0.jpg

Anyway, even if the 103 was never painted in ocean beige-blue, it could have been plausible to do so, given that the 103 saw many liveries in her career - see photo 1 - and considering that many classes were painted ocean blue-beige, e.g., 110, 140, 111, 218, 212, 360, V 200.

It even happened to a good old class 118 as below authentic photo 2 shows.

As I understand it the Rheingold TEE Blue and Cream livery is different to the much later Ocean Blue and Beige as shown on the picture of the 118.

That was around in the 1980s I believe, and indeed I saw a 111 in Ocean Blue and Beige at Hockenhrim in 1992.

Yes, there are two different colour schemes. One is the 1950s Rheingold colours, and the other is the 1970s standard ocean-blue and beige. I'm not sure if the beige part is the same shade, but the blue is certainly quite different.

The Br118 in blue/beige was made by Marklin as part of a set of two locos, the other being in bare metal colour. The set had the catalogue number 3667.

In era IV, fast locos where cream/red, not so fast locos were cream/blue. BR 103 was a fast loco.

The 1962 Rheingold had the colours Beige (RAL 1001) and Cobalt Blue (RAL 5013).
After 1974, trains were Ivory (RAL 1014) and Ocean Blue (RAL 5020).

Sponsored by Roco, E 03 001 appeared in Cobalt Blue in 2014 (I don't know if the top was Beige or Ivory) for the first time in history. Roco also made a model of that loco.
Previously Roco already made a BR 103 in Ivory/Ocean Blue, but that was pure fantasy.

The one and only BR 103 in Traffic Red was also sponsored by Roco.

Tom

So for the record, we can agree that at certain point of time for whatever motivation one BR 103 (E 03 001) appeared in Beige/Ivory and Cobalt Blue / RAL 5013 (2014) and another BR 103 (103 233-3) appeared Traffic Red (2000*), right?

Right. A museum loco, not operational.

Here you can see a picture of E 03 001 - and of the Rh. 1042 loco that hauled the visitors to the railway museum (both locos in Rheingold ’62 livery):

Scroll down or search for "Rheingold".

Set was first announced for Q4/2013. Then it was Q2/2014.
Now it is announced for August 2014.

And that's for the first batch, production may take several months.

That's not unusual for Märklin. Product database now shows red and yellow. Traffic light changes to yellow when the first batch was shipped.
Can happen any day soon. Or any month soon.
