OK, lot's has happened here, trains in the air, planes on trains, funiculars ... and yep, after a slightly prolonged "break", I'll be OT for just a sec while John decides what he wants to see ... ^^ ;P Had a look at what Boeing's rival, Airbus (EU side, for balanced topic ?), is doing in terms of transport ... and as far as I can tell, no railroads whatsoever are involved (unfortunately) ; except a very specific narrow gauge track from assembly hall to air transport ? Train on a plane ;) : Btw, one of my first jobs was designing the maintenance hangar for that Beluga, it's somewhere here on the forum ... ^^ ! Apparently Airbus routes are all either water transport, or road ... pretty amazing ... : http://geoconfluences.en...ransv/Mobil/MobilDoc.htmhttp://www.meretmarine.c...que-maritime-pour-airbus And then, there is this A380 streamliner, pretty please Marklin ? ;) http://felipe1355.devian...t/Airbus-Train-334374380 Y |

Seeing that the topic has stalled, I claim the override rule and I want to see a picture (that you have taken yourself) of a Santa Fe ABBA warbonnet F-unit consist with a Super Chief or similar train - on a model railroad. |

You called? Here I am. Swedish pop group configuration (aka "ABBA") of a Santa Fe war bonnet F-unit consist with a Super Chief or similar train - on a model railroad? The photos show a pure Santa Fe six coach streamliner train without the dome car (since the one I have is actually a D&RGW one). Besides photos from my layout I offer two recent bonus videos by jvuye of his ABBA pulled Santa Fe streamliner train. (https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/yaf_postsm446020_Poor-man-s-ATSF-F7B.aspx#post446020) (https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/yaf_postst30592_My-US-trains.aspx#post446619)
That brings me to my wish: "jvuye" wrote recently regarding the Union Pacific RR: " But an interesting use of F units was on the old "Pedro" subdivision (San Pedro-Los Angeles-Salt Lake route) - on a train known as the DLS (Day Live Stock) whose route was identical to the City of LA, and whose schedule was almost as fast as the passenger train (just a little over 27 h over the California division) and was scheduled to travel over the desert section during the cooler nights. ... DLS cars were originally pre-WW II stock cars, duly refurbished with roller bearings axles and newer brake systems (to remove speed restrictions and reduce start up friction), something that was unheard of at the time except for the top of the range Limited passenger expresses à la City of Los Angeles, etc. In addition, the cars were repainted in famous UP armour yellow, with a red stripe and large Union Pacific markings and silver roof (to reflect as much heat as possible during the desert crossing)." Now, please show me a photo of this UP DLS train. Alsterstreek attached the following image(s): |

That first B unit must be run in reverse. Was that even possible? |
Matt Era 3 DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control. With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397. |

Somewhat off topic, but Inner Mongolia made me think of (Outter) Mongolia. Chinese gauge and Russian gauge are different (Russian Gauge is used in Mongolia, as the Soviet era supported some infrastructure projects in Mongolia). When taking a train to Ulan Bator from Bejing (or vice versa), it stops at the Mongolian-Chinese border so they can switch the trucks on the cars to match the appropriate railway gauge. What is your demand...I mean, request? :) -Brandon |

I thought maybe showing just the other side of the story: the first (and only!) visit to San Francisco on the occasion of the presentation of the new equipment in on March 19, 1949. The train is on the Embarcadero, right in front of the Ferry Building. Actress Eleanor Parker and CA Lt. Governor Goodwin Knight were on hand for the christening occasion. The consist had to travel to SFO over Santa Fe and Southern Pacific rails: turning left in Fremont in the East Bay, then on through San Jose and carrying on the SP line through what is known today as Silicon Valley and the Peninsula. This picture from the WP archives comes from the excellent book on the CZ by Karl Zimmermann and published by Quadrant Press (ISBN 0-915276-42-9 ). Thanks for the CZ photos Jacques... I rode the Zephyr twice - in '68 and '69. I don't have the Maerklin version, but I did put down a lot of $$ for the complete Lionel WP version a number of years back. (Of course... I was still single then ;) )

Ok, so I guess I am the one to formulate the next request For a change of venue, and it's probably a tough one (yes I have looked for it , quite a long time!) :
I'd like to see an exchange of **freight** locomotives between SBB and FS in Chiasso , back before WW II.
Thanks

Looks like that one was too tough, like you suspected, Jacques. Let's keep the request open. Meanwhile, I once again claim the override rule, and I'd like to see a picture of an E69 with a train on the Murnau-Oberammergau line. Usually the E69 ran with a couple of Silberlings, but if you have pictures of e.g. a short freight, that's OK too. I always thought these trains and this line would be ideal for a model railroad with limited space. |

Looks like that one was too tough, like you suspected, Jacques. Let's keep the request open. .... Yes, indeed. The closest I found was a train crash involving two locos, but I believe you did not seek such a brutal "exchange". |

I cannot view the attachment. I tried with three different internet browser on my Mac to no avail. Maybe too big photo size? Anyway, yes the "Ski Meister" train is an actual thing from your country. The train was running in the 1930s in the Northeast of the U.S. of A, operated jointly by the New Haven and Boston and Maine railroads. While web information is sparse, and photos are even sparser. Therefore my request. |
