Seems easy to guess that the 3rd wagon will have the word "fascination" in german (Faszination ?).

"Technik. Spielen. Erfahren." has no appeal to me. On the boxes they write "Tradition, Qualität, Emotion, Innovation" (probably needs no translation). I don't think any of these four will be shown on the third car either. "Technik. Spielen. Lernen." would be a slogan addressed at the parents. "Technik. Spielen. Abenteuer." (adventures) would be a slogan addressed at the children. Will we see a return of Märklin Alpha? Edit: Miguel's post wasn't visible when I started writing. So the answer is "Faszination" (fascination). And what will the surprise be?

		German trains era I-II and selected III, era depends on the mood, mostly Maerklin but i can be heretic if needed XD, heresy is no longer an issue.. LOL

This message is to create a little suspense about a "surprise" to be unveiled at Nuremberg toy fair... If the surprise was explained in the message .... then there will be no more surprise in Nuremberg. At least we can guess that the surprise report to the field of technology, not the field of pure modeling/scale model... (not about new special model, etc ...) Today the "surprise" remains.... Into this message, I also see a sign of Marklin's come back, after the period of restrictions since Mr Pluta's management era....

From various German websites it can be digested that the 2013 new items will be revealed in the last week of January. Coming back on the special versions of the 4415,i guess the third will have productnumber 4415.565?

I also try to think from a digital system perspective, but nothing really new comes to my mind. Well, somethings come to my mind, like for example 3D images coming from the display of a new CS, or something more realistic that others already have like ESU's locomotives. And other ideas, like a live steam locomotive in HO (others already have it...). The possibilities are immense... Probably I will not post before Christmas again. Wish you all season greetings!

Maerklin dealers have planned seminars for those interested in the early months of 2013,focus will be on automatic running of trains. Already in an earlier stage,rumours said that M was working on an automated shadowstation function,whereby incoming trains would automatically opt for the free tracks. The idea would be to design the layout on the PC,including all the stop/go/signal functions,test run it on the PC,thence put it in practice using amended M digital systems. This concept would fall in line with the words Technology and Play. Also,it would appeal to youngsters who are aquainted with a PC anyway.

As such,we might see a couple of nice new M models for those countries.

The train manufacturer only has to invest into the design of the software, and we, customers, have to invest ourselves into the hardware, buying the hardware on shelves... Have you seen the Roco Z1 : just a cube, no knobs , no throttles, no function keys, no screen....just a basic electronic card + few connectors....and they dare to sell it 400 E ! No more R&D, poor design, for sure Roco is the winner, very interesting for them (warranty without any risk, less service after sales) : the service is tranferred to Pad manufacturers... CS2 is a real computer for trains. It is complete....and you can use mobile e-pads if you want !

They succeed in cutting R&D + design costs : you have to buy a pad yourself. No physical throttles, no physical keys , no screen, etc..;etc. you also depend on the autonomy of the Ipad (time range without connection = few hours. If you want to play at any time, don't forget to power the batteries & don't us your Ipad too much surfing the web !)

(may be my English din't express what I want to say.....I think). I try another way : all is in the I-pad, Not in the Roco hardware (or so few).

This is a promotional item. The set is sent free of charge to retailers. Each retailer will receive only one set. Normally it is not for sale, but I think that those mainly working with other brands will be tempted to sell it rapidly. Some train retailers are also toy retailers having some shelves for train among many other items...50E for a car, 150 E for 3, 100% profit = a good deal ! Last week I saw the second car on display at my dealer. Each car is accompanied by a letter, with the second car they received another gift just for them. During the last decade Marklin had never done this... this time I think Marklin has something important to present .. This set could become a collector...Time will tell...

Here is the web site for Games On Track. Also when driving, but at the moment I am not planning to have a layout in my car. By the way I used voice control in a new car and it has some issues, although they maybe because of the language not being german.... For me knobs and mouse are great enough.

You might be right, but on the available evidence you could also be way off the right track. If there's anything in this rumour of voice control it's likely to involve a PC control package like Hornby's Railmaster, rather than the E-Link hardware. On the other hand, maybe they are planning a cheap interface unit so you don't need a Central control at all, and this would be more like the E-Link. I think it's fun to speculate on what the new "surprise" might be, but I think we should reserve our judgements until we have something concrete to go on. I wouldn't like to criticise Marklin based on what I think they are going to make!

(or sumpin' like that) we have to wait how they live that motto. Voice control might come, but cannot be all. IMHO they need something affordable that appeals to many people. Voice control that works only with CS2 plus Apple gadget and/or PC would keep many outside. I'd rather expect something on the entry level. They had Alpha, they had Circus Mondolino - maybe we'll see something that goes with the battery powered trains? Stefan Löbich said a "Spielewelt" (Play World) would come. That would suit. What will it be? More trains (Shinkansen?)? Houses? Cars? Slightly oversized "Preiserlings"? New turnout decoders with MM and DCC, new signals with MM and DCC (maybe even mfx?). New semaphores? Will we see the delivery of green double stock coaches with a length of 303 mm in 2013? Who knows ... Will there be a slim double slip switch and a new turntables (both have been rumoured)? No big surprises, but would be nice to see a new developments (I hope 24360 was just the first of a few new track pieces, not the last of all C track pieces). A successor of K track? Well, any new product they announce will find many saying "I won't buy that". That's life. With 100 pages of new items there should be something for anybody. A new beer car is all I can afford - did they pick a "must-have" brand?

PC interface, complete layout control, Voice control, Smart phone compliant, with features list as long as your arm. (And all the inherent problems with legacy interface, buggy operational software problems, 'future' features that turn into Vaporware, endless software upgrades and inherent language/novices incomprehension that will keep train forums busy for years) Personally, I hope my guess is 180 degrees off , there's nothing about a M* version of the railmaster/ E-link product Id buy. I have my personal short-list of a " Technik. Spielen. Erfahren " 'release' I'd like to see, but it won't be that those either. Howard
