I have a new 29576 (NYC PA-1 with mfx and MS) set that works impressively in all respects - except one thing that is a bit odd. The track sounds (clickety-clack) has one cadence - whether the loco is stopped or moving at full speed. I have gone over all the literature that came with the set and can find no reference to this particular sound feature. Is it programmable so that it can be tuned to the loco speed? Not very useful otherwise.

the loco speed control is fantastic - from creep to full speed without any hesitation or jerkiness. I'm delighted.

Thanks for any/all tips.

I think the sound you mention is the same as found in some ESU MFX loksound decoders.
When analysing this sound with a programmer, it is reffered as "rail_clack1_loop.wav" and produces the clickety-clack sound at one speed.

As far as I know it has only been used as a single 'static' speed sound on standard decoders. The behaviour you mention is familiar to me and the way it is...

However, for Lokprogrammer owners (software can be downloaded free on www.loksound.de)
I think you might be able to use the 'adjust to engine speed' option when using this soundsample in the engine schedule setup...

This might give you the speed dependent clickety-clack.

Thanks Gert-Jan / I will check it out, and find my German-English dictionary. Interesting feature, nevertheless.

Welcome back, Per. Looks just like my layout, except for the scenery! You should know that I, and my grandson, are really enjoying the Lumbye galop.

Congratulations, Hal - cool set [:p][:p][:p] !!!
BTW, all my trains go clickety-clack, even w/o electronics. No silencers between track and plywood ... [:o)]

Thanks, John. The plain old train-on-track sound suits me fine as well. In fact, I prefer it to the electronic simulation. I just found the fixed cadence that came with the loc to be amusing, sort of like a jogger running in place at a red light.
