Do the Trix Express (wagons) series run okay on Marklin tracks, especially K Tracks?

Reason why I ask is that I am interested in some wagons but I found the following on Wikipedia:

"Apart from the centre pick-up, the Trix Express system also retained the larger wheel flanges, customary in the 1930’s, right till the recent end, making derailments rather uncommon, but at the same time making their rolling stock incompatible with more modern two-rail NEM systems."

The old Trix stuff doesn't work well here either, I set up my old TrixExpress set a couple of weeks ago after about 30 years of not running ,which my grandpa gave to me after taking down his layout ,and it worked.

I bought a couple of hopper cars with TRIX express wheels recently.The wheel flanges are too thick and too high for Märklin rail profiles and the cars derail on both K-track and C-track turnouts.

Rail profile hight for C-track is 2,3 mm
K-track is 2,5 mm
Trix Exp 2,9 mm

Thanks for the info guys.
I have some old Marklin 40** coaches at home, I'll use those wheelsets for conversion.
The 700150 wheelset appears to be the correct conversion so I wll have a play.

I operate both TRIX Express and Maerklin layouts. TRIX Express coaches and wagons will not run on any Marklin track because their flanges are too large. TRIX Express track has a profile height of 3.3 mm, the old TRIX International 2-rail track had a profile height of 2.7 mm. Maerklin C-track is 2.1 mm and K- and M-track are also around 2.1 or 2.3 mm profile heights thus are too low for TRIX Express wheel sets. You can always replace the wheels!! You will need to check the axles however. I can help you with TRIX Express stuff, I have had it since I was 3 years old!!

You can also find TRIX Express 3-rail track for sale on E-bay and you can run any manufacturer's locomotives and rolling stock on this track. You can even run Maerklin on "one side" and TRIX Express DC on the "other side" as all three rails are isolated from each other. If you can find the TRIX Express nickel-silver "super" track it is more resilient than the older fibre based track. However, the best turn-outs to use are the British TRIX 3-rail fibre Universal ones!!

With the purchase of TRIX by Maerklin it is unlikely that the Express line will ever be resurrected. It was poor management both by German and British TRIX that caused its eventual demise. Also, for its time it was always very highly priced!!

Wonderful models. A great find since they were produced by TRIX specifically for Maerklin. The 4- designation tells you they were for AC track operation. If you see models with 2-, and or 3- before the final four digits they are for the TRIX 2-rail and 3-rail DC systems. These coaches were produced after 1986 when TRIX started some limited models for use with the "punktkontakt" (stud) track Maerklin system.

For these wagons you can use a Bavarian S3/6 steam locomotive or a BR 18.5.

It would be a class 18.4 or any steam with tender in Ep 1 or 2.
