Hi All,

I see the 39120 version of the E10 (Blue) is on yellow light with Marklin. Does anyone know if it is going to be re-released with the SDS motor?

Cheers

It still came with C-Sine high-efficiency propulsion.

The 39121 and 26540 do have SDS motor.

Yes I'm aware of this, but I heard not such good things about the original compact C-Sine in this loco (and others), and am wondering if it will be updated...

I have read other topic with 39120 problem (first batch delivery last year) on

https://www.marklin-user...67&SearchTerms=39120

This month delivery won't see any problem.Smile
Maybe came with SDS but wait and see.

The list of delivery dates shows August '07 for 39120.
I ordered one last year - and I do hope it'll come with an SDS motor. Now that they have the tooling for the 39121 with SDS, they shouldn't produce more Rough Drive Sinus motors ...

Tom

I got my 39120 last oktober without SDS of course,,,

It was not so good so I have traded it with my seller for a 39121 which is much better so I
would deffinately wait and see to be sure the "new" delivery for the 39120 has SDS before I get it,,,

I have been remiss in not providing a final comment on my E10/39120 experience (see the thread steventrain inserted above). First, I have had no problems with the C-sine - in fact this loc has been a fine, quiet, even favorite runner since day one. The problem has been sound related.

The anemic whistle (rather "wheeze") problem was solved by following a suggestion from Lutz (thank you!) and replacing the speaker with a larger one. The loc now has a sharp and very pleasant "toot". The station announcement was of poor quality and remains so - but I really don't care about that (perhaps I can call Zora when I need to tell my passengers something Smile).

Incidentally, my C-sine VT08.5 has been excellent and trouble-free for the year or so I have had her on my layout. Perhaps this is a case of "ignorance is bliss" in that my experience with M* only dates back about 18 months so my frame of reference is very limited.

Hi Soren,
Yes my Marklin experience is less than 2 years also, so I found my 39120 an excellent locomotive. I got it late 2006.

It does however, have a strange effect on my layout running. When 39120 is on the layout, all the locomotives slow down anywhere on the layout, when any locomotive is in the grade crossing activation zone.

I use a Mobile Station.

regards
Kimball

Kim,
As the CS is away I have been having similar problems with slow downs when the xcossing is activated. Especially when I have 2 Trains with lighted Carriages..
Eg a Goods with Steamer, a Passenger train 3 Lighted Carriages, and the ICE with 2 Lighted cars. With the ICE lights on Slowdowns. Ice Lights Off No Slowdowns.

It may be a Power limitation on the MS.

My 39120 arrived yesterday.
There is no SDS sticker on the box ...
... but the decoder was preset to linear speed curve and the loco is not sensitive to voltage changes.

I haven't opened it yet and I can't tell if there's an SDS or an updated Compact C-Sine inside - and I don't care as it behaves as good as the 39121 (that came with SDS sticker on the box).

Tom

Hi Thomas,

you can see the difference between the Rheingold and the blue E10 when comparing the two pcb's, like shown here (upper = 39120, lower = 39121).

I fully agree - just enjoy your models! wink

Well I've gone and got a 39120 as well. I think it has the mini C-Sine motor, but I haven't opened it to look. Running characteristics are fine, as is the sound. Seems Marklin have fixed issues with this loco in later production batches.
