Ideas on converting Suisse light on a 3356 Croc

I have rather succesfully converted my Delta 3356 SBB Ce 6/8 Croc to a DC engine with Locsound MFX decoder. First she was a teath grinding Croc, now she is a smooth crawling alligator However...the Suisse light switch is completely messed up. This version has "Lampensockel 259150" This means two bulbs can be fitted and there is some direction of the light. Any ideas how to make this true Suisse light switching? |

Hello, Gert-Jan
I have done this on my crawling alligator fro set 3300 with the 60921 mfx set.
In addition to the new bulb sockets you also need new light guides, M# 207990, otherwise the light distribution will get wrong.
I know only the colours from the Märklin decoders:
End I: 1. Connect the grey wire (front light) for the upper bulb. This will illuminate the top and one lower lamp. 2. Connect a diode (1N4148) from the top bulb to the lower one, catode facing the upper lamp, same pole as the gray wire. 3. Connect the yellow wire (rear light) to the lower lamp. This will illuminate the other lower lamp, RH side seen from behind 4. Connect the orange wire to the free poles of both bulbs.
End II: 1. Connect the yellow wire (rear light) for the upper bulb. This will illuminate the top and one lower lamp. 2. Connect a diode (1N4148) from the top bulb to the lower one, catode facing the upper lamp, same poel as the yellow wire. 3. Connect the gray wire (front light) to the lower lamp. This will illuminate the other lower lamp, RH side seen from behind. 4. Connect the orange wire to the free poles of both bulbs. |

Thanks for the info The 207990 LICHTKOERPER is indeed different (eg 3352) than in the same kind of item in the 3356. I have glanced at those, but never noticed the difference. I made a small drawing ) from the circuit scematic...too see what's up... When lights are on in forward mode, both lights lit. When lights are on in reverse mode, only lower lit. Same goes for the other end, but just the other way around... Mmm...makes me very curious about the 207990 LICHTKOERPER to get things done |

Hi again I think you have to turn your diode up-side down, as the orange is positiv and the gray is negativ. The gray negative should connect to both bulbs, the yellow negativ only to the lower. With our connection I think it would work opposite. I look inside one of my crocs now (from 26730), the cathode is pointing upwords.[:I] Reminds of an electronic teacher I once had. He could never say NO. He said: Yes, that could have been, but.... |

Stupid me, I forgot we are dealing with a positive common here [B)] This 'positve common' is always bothering me, like when I had to use a function invertor together with the ICE lightswitch ledlight-platine 574006 |

Hi Gert-Jan, there exist different alternatives with this decoder. - use single diodes (as described already by intruder) - use diode matrix #669620 - use AUX1/AUX2 + function mapping (allows white rear w/o headlights) - change lighting to LED's and use swiss light pcb #605242 (gives you in addition red read lights, optional cabin lights, etc.) light assembly #207990 works ok (and is actually needed).

I have done the conversion on a 3556, and with the 2 diodes assembly it works fine, sadly only a LP mfx on it, not a LS but....... here the link to the scheme, it says c80 or c90, but it works with the LP mfx http://hgh-esn.ath.cx/im...tine/622550_ch_licht.jpg |
German trains era I-II and selected III, era depends on the mood, mostly Maerklin but i can be heretic if needed XD, heresy is no longer an issue.. LOL |

Thanks all for the ideas! I believe I had the diode matrix #669620 spare after converting my Delta AE 3/6...but dumped it as thought being useless [xx(] I'll start ordering #207990 and I might switch to swiss light PCB |
