I ordered loco 30000 (BR 89.0) recently, and it arrived last week.
I expected to get a Delta loco and had address 60 reserved for it. I hoped the light would not flicker.

But even better: it has a DC motor, supports 80 addresses, lights do not flicker (switched with function), it has acceleration and braking delay. Not sure if it has load regulation ...

I don't know why they didn't change number to 36000 ...
Regards
Tom

Plastic or metal?

I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

What kind of DC motor? Can shape motor or the standard 5-pole Märklin?

30000 still has the 5-pole DCM. Märklin changed this to HLA already end of last year.

The 36320 however will have a new chassis with a DC-Motor. Some days ago I showed you already some pictures of another new model with such a kind of new motor/drive (topic 36871). Here now one of this too. As you can see, there is now plenty of space for the driver and coal boy. biggrin

Lutz

PS: Also attached another picture of the fine new VT798.5; just a little beauty!!!

Hi Ron,

very "smooth"; also very good in slow speed steps; due to the metal construction and weight also no contact problems. So far only the sound version has been delivered, the non-sound and the trailer car will be delivered later. (mfx-Lok-)Sound ist very good and authentic, especially the "nail-hammering" diesel. The lights on the control car side can be switched off (by f1) when running the railbus together with the control car/trailer car.

I could not care less if someone dislikes the yellow lights, the placement of the (23mm) loudspeaker or the special front window construction. If he can do better he's free to do so.

Overall, I think this model is fully worth its price (just recall the price of the predecessor model in 1956!).

Regards,
Lutz

Davy,

what do you mean with "DC-Motor" or are you talking about another model?

The new 30000 has now besides another road number (89 009) and different internal painting a standard 5-pole HLA-DCM which is controlled by a new (generic) pfx-decoder.

Regards,
Lutz

If they're reworking it, you'd think that just once they could mark it correctly, either DRG, DR, or PKP... Oh, well.

Hi all!
I don't get it anymore:
how many br 89 are there?
I see older ones with relays,
ones with delta,
ones with 5 pole high propulsion
and now with the new dc motor
and decoder.
All have the number 30000?
All for the same price?
I don't think so.
And besides all of that,
they are not very good runners on turnouts.
I hope to see various type numbers.

Greetings from
Bill

Well, it started out as the 3000 under which number it ran until 2002 when the 30000 came out with a delta decoder and blackened wheels... The DB keks didn't appear until 60's. See http://www.modellbahnboerse.org/3000.htm and http://www.modellbahnboerse.org/30000.htm for pics.

Only 10 of the prototype were produced. 89 001, 004, 006, 007 and 010 remained in Poland with the PKP, 89 002, 003 and 009 also had to be turned over to the PKP later, leaving 2(!!!) 89 005 stationed in Leipzig and 89 008 in Dresden. It is most produced engine Märklin have, like McDonalds over 5 millon served. Price varies over time, of course, the cost of the molds has been more then recouped, and it's great intro for kids. Haven't any stalling problems on turnouts with mine (c-track). Kurt Miska has a great page devoted to the engine at http://www-personal.umich.edu/%7Ekhmiska/BR%2089.htm and we shared pics here some time ago.

So if any new models appear, let's have them be correctly marked. None of this DB stuff...

It's nice to have a BR89 with 5 pole high propulsion and a decent decoder, but I am not fond of the red interior... A bit too much on the wild side for me.

Lutz, Tom: Is the red interior piece a separate thing which can be painted or left out?

IB since 2000. Latest loc aquisition: 37554 BR 55 a long time ago...

Bernhard,

the "red piece" is part of the body ("Treibgestell"), but you can repaint into any desired color (maybe pink?biggrin)

Despite the changed color, the body part number apparently hasn't even been changed.

Lutz

Hi all,

I for one would've wished they left the 3000 as is, with a Delta decoder and at a lower price, possibly only included in starter sets. On the contrary, I would like to see a retooled version of both classes 81 and 89 with detailed gearwork, interior detailes, sounds, and mfx decoder.
Greetings,
Armando
Best regards,
Armando García
