Hi there!

I've got one small book where I register the locomotives operation time.
I only have two locos that don't have any kid of register.
This is My way to keep control of each loco running time.

Does anyone keep this time of register?

Regards

No, but it's a very good idea!

I keep a spreadsheet showing all my locos and information about spare parts etc. Perhaps I can start another column for this.

Hi Ray!

This is a way for control the operation time since the moment they leave the box! It's also usefull for lubrication and cleaning purposes, it's easier to decide the "when to" for this type of routines.

Hi guys

Wouldn't it be great if this function was added to the CSII to do it automatically? And if it was downloadable into Excel it will be simply marvelous biggrin.

Have a great weekend.

Part of having a regular maintenance done on your loco, is, add ballbearings to your armature shaft.
No more oiling or lubrication required and a much smoother running.

Great Idea,
e.g. every 30 working hours or so and than, as your loco runs on your layout without any problem, it stops, you'll get an anouncement on your CSII: Your loco needs maintenance now.
Please remove loco from track. biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Actually that's a great idea for my database.. If the item type = locomotive, then we can have a usage log that tracks time since the last service.. Unfortunately, FD has forced me to have two glasses of Shiraz, so it does not look like I can do any coding tonight.. I shouldn't even be on the forum - she thinks that I have gone downstairs to find some more wine... Giggle...

You guys got to get out more. I check my locos and coaches etc once per year to ensure if they need oil or not. Appears to have worked for many years now as I have had no problems.
Locos run on a regular basis do not need much attention but those that are rarely run should be checked for dry oil etc.

I just oil mine as and when they need it. Growling or poor slow running are usually a good indication that attention is needed.

Do any of the computer control programs keep track of time? It would be easy enough to keep track if there were proper hooks in the code. Of course it could be burdensome if there are lots of places where you stop and start trains in the code. Miss one and you have a train that looks like it has been running for years...biggrin

Yep.. WinDigipet does, but it can only track the time while the computer controls the layout. If you use the eCos or Cs to drive the loco, the application can capture that action...

So this is not such a crazy idea!
I thought that I was beeing too "picky", but it seems that it make sense for a few, plus M.

I run my locos almost every day, not all of them but everyday I try to run one or two, and for some time...

Hi!
Recently i got my V200, but there was something wrong with it and i had to send it back. I already received the new one (i think), it works very nice but the box didn't look as neat as the previous one....anyway, the loco looks nice and it works.

So she has been running for the past 13 hours, that's my new record running a loco. It's like a trip from Paris to MadridSmile

Since they are pieces of classic art and highly collectible I wouldn't mind asking for sending a new empty box Cool
