Is there a site I can go to for an easy to understand explanation on how you run your layout with a computer. PS I would like to use a MAC.

The following is meant for Z scale, but you might get something out of it:

Take a look at http://berros.nl/itrain

This runs well on a Mac with OS X 10.4 or 10.5.

Hi: I downloaded SimpleDigitalLocomotive v0.4a7 (SDL), which is control software for the Mac under OS X:

http://home.claranet.de/sdl/

To all of us that have Macs, this is a very interesting piece of software, and Mafi, who has posted about this elsewhere in this forum is to be commended and thanked for his hard work and coding prowess.

I have looked over the manual, and have played around, but as yet, I have not succeeded in getting the software to control my layout. Let me describe what I have, and ask for some help.

Computer Hardware/Software:
I have a Powerbook with no serial port. However, I have a USB -> Serial cable with the PL2303 USB to Serial Driver for Mac OS X from Sourceforge:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/osx-pl2303/

Controller:
I have an IB with software version 1.55.

Thanks in advance for your help.--MM

Hi Charles,

https://www.marklin-user...ault.aspx?g=posts&t=8127

see here for more infos about Mac-Layout connecting:

http://www.geocities.com...er_familie/news_sdl.html

latest version SDL-X v0.4b18 of end of September 2008. More to come.
There are some reports of problems connecting the IB to the Mac. Mainly Intel-based Macs. In this case I recommend to use the PPC-version of SDL even on an Intel-Mac.

CS1/ECoS support is implemented, 6021/IB/Tams-support may be difficult. I recommend to use Prolific'c own driver or a Keyspan-USB-Serial adapter.

Cheers

Hi to all Mac-fans here,

SDL now supports the CS2. Anyone interested in testing, then see also the new FAQ-entry on our site.

Cheers

Hi Mafi,

Great to hear..., probably one of the first to support the CS2! Congratulations!Smile

As I don't intend to buy a CS2, M's latest digital system will not be supported in LC.[:I]
Cheers,
Frank
