Last month I had the privilege of visiting one of our club members large M Track layout. Macca (of the 'Lord' variety) has been pestering me to get some pictures of it loaded up, so here they are. The layout is basically a large rectangle shape, and I will refer to the ends and sides of the layout as North, West, South and East (even though this may not be the true orientation).

Pictures 1 to 4 are on the 'West' side

Pictures 9 to 11 are on the 'East' side. Note the removable track and bridge going across the doorway.

Pictures 12 and 13 show the 'North' end.

The layout is analog controlled, with some 11 transformers powering various sections. Signaling and train control is automated with contact tracks. Of course 'Puss' is a master at controlling the layout, and loves to spend time with her owner watching the trains go around the layout. She also loves to watch Rugby on the TV.

More piccies to come........

Enjoy!

Very classic. Nice well cared for collection. Puss reminds me of my Scooter, who I had when I got my first Marklin set. I had many Lesney Matchbox when I was ayoung tyke myself. If I only new where they all ended up. Our neighbor kids and I would play with our matchbox cars outside, and many got lost, or taken to someone elses house.

Thanks Dave,
Well worth the wait.

Talk about being transported to the '50s & '60s. [:p]

A fantastic collection of just about everything.

The two items that caught my eye:
Rusty track - real M track!!
And the 'solid' Prellbock!

Certainly not a collection - 'tis a Passion.

Is there any other team???

Three advantages of being a Hurricane Supporter:

1. The Hurricanes stimulate your cardio-vascular system - regularly - every game.
2. Your team is the best 14 man rugby team in the comp.
3. They exist, therefore you ARE. biggrin

that's a nice collection of matchbox cars too. especially since there are many older boxes too - much nicer than the bubble packs almost everything comes in today.
I still have almost all my matchboxes (100 or so), but maybe only one with a box.

The bad news regarding this layout is that it is soon to be pulled apart, because the owner needs to move house.

The good news is that it will be reassembled in a larger room at another location.

Wow! Big Daddy! An SK800! SOOO KOOOL!! I really like the manual crank coal hoist.
If I may ask about the white automobile on the bottom shelf in front of the blue sports car and red bus or fire truck? It is behind the blue tandem dump truck with a yellow cab. What make is it? It looks to be a Ford of American style.

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.

As you can see the layout owner has names for each of the locos, which he has placed on the front of each loco. All locos are analog, except for the BR10 you see in the first picture. And, all locos are of German types. The 'imposter' F7 you see in some of the pictures belongs to one of our club members, who just had to run it the layout. Well it didn't want to pull up some of the inclines, so caused havoc with the automated signal system. Something to do with the B unit! Once the imposter was gone, everything worked OK again!

Hi David,
Thanks for sharing these great pictures. A lot of fun there.

Interesting collection, and I think I saw a die-cast Fun-HO home-grown NZ articulated dump truck. Is that correct?

Kimball

Sorry Rowan and Spitzenklasse, I can't really answer the questions about the autos. I'll have to ask the layout owner.

Fantastic nostalgia layout!
The only proper way to display classic Märklin trains is IMHO running them on a classic layout!

Quite likely Kimball. I'll have to check it out next time I visit.

I think I have a Fun-Ho articulated truck somewhere, with my Matchbox toys.
