An information for you CS guys oyt there.

I have a M# 3100 DR 03 124 steam engine and the 42751 passenger car set:
The 3100 has an mfx decoder, set to address 43 (if I use the CU 6021).
The 42751 has a 60960 function decoder, also address 43.

I have changed the mfx output to f0, f5, f6 and f7. That works perfect.
The 60960 has output f1, f2, f3 and f4.
So, I tried to combine the two, to have the control of both units from one "display":
The red ones are for the locomotive, the green ones for the cars.

If I make a consist, and selected the 3100 first, everything is working perfect - if I first enter the f1 - f4 functions (not working, of course) to the locomotive.
I have allready entered them to the 42751.

I forgot to mention the function layout:

f0 = front light, locomotive (I also installed two rear lights on the tender)
f1 = interior light in the passenger cars
f2 = interior light in the baggage car
f3 = interior light, conductor's cabin
f4 = rear light on baggage car (not installed yet)
f5 = smoke unit, locomotive
f6 = interior light, locomotive
f7 = acceleration/brake delay cancelling and shunting speed

Funny!

Hi Svein,

this is clear. The CS will always use the configuration of the FIRST "loco" in a consist list. So, if you want to combine the functions of two quite different models, the way you describe here is fine. Smile

With mfx decoders (or in general with any decoder that allows function mapping) this is quite easy.

I have a similar own example. The first loco in my MT called "RE 19642" (running daily from Singen to Stuttgart, arriving there at 11:42) is a BR111 (#37317), the second a cab control car (from Starter set #29470, equipped with an #60961 function decoder).

f0 is switching the direction dependent headlights of both the car and loco
f1 turns on the interior light of the car, no loco function
f2 turns on the headlight and destination indicator (Stuttgart), no loco function
f3 is for the loco horn, no car function yet, maybe horn too)
f4 is for the delay deactivation of the loco, no car function yet)
f5 turns on the shunting light of the loco
f6 turns on the shunting gear

The result looks like this on a CS and MS:

Thanks, Lutz

By the way, do you know if the DRG Pw4ü baggage car ever had red rear lamps?
If so, how were they installed?

In Norway, most passenger cars had brackets on both sides where it was possible to hang up battery driven flashing lamps.
A short story:
I remember once, it must have been the winter 1975/76, I took the night train from Oslo to Bergen (Norway). Somewhere in the hills down from Myrdal to Voss we drove into a small snow avalange. Fortunately the inertia in the train made the locomotive pass through the avalange, but the train of course stopped for a small check. I was out on the snow, very hard, I did not leave any footprints. When the train was pulled through the avalange, with a lot of strange noises, we were advised to stay away from the windows. The rear lamps, and the brackets, was torn off as if it was made of paper.
