Hi,

I have a 3085 BR 003 bought in the late eighties in a white box that I want to digitize. It has a smoke unit I want to control digitally. I'm not planning on mounting sound now but I wouldn't mind if it was prepared for adding a sound module later. Would the mfx with high effieciency motor kits 60923 or 60924 be of use for this? I tried looking for a list of currently available decoders on Märklins website but was unable to find satisfactory information. Does the motor have to be replaced or is just a decoder enough? Also intersted to know what decoders and/or conversion kits costs new.

Hi Tomgi,

The latest versions of these kits would be the 60941 motor kit for this loco, and the 60942 MLD decoder kit. You can also use the 60760 combined kit, with a more basic decoder included with the motor kit.

Thanks RayF. What about the 60922 decoder kit? I'm asking because I have an opportunity to get the kits mentioned second hand but unopened.

[Edit: Never mind, figured out 60922 only works on locomotives that already have high effiency motors. My 3085 does not.]
