After thoroughly enjoying Matt's posts detailing the construction of the Faller B-108
https://www.marklin-user...chnology.aspx#post461486
...I got to thinking about this model of mine. Then I looked at previous posts by Marco, and it seems this is a RS model of a similar era, as one of the doors is identical:
https://www.marklin-user...-No-6408.aspx#post463394
I am wondering if there are any catalogues of these models or if its possible to date it.
The prices on those other beauties are somewhat outlandish, but I am guessing there is a market for it.
https://www.marklin-user...n-models.aspx#post463256

They feel like pre-war buildings, but I cannot really say.
Wondering how or if I can manage to repair the window without removing the bottom of the model and potentially damaging it more. The cellophane on the upper windows, I find is quite clever as you when you drive by houses in the day, you don't really see into the windows due to dull glare of the daylight sun. So when mounted downward on the set, the windows do not reflect oddly as they do in the detail photos.

Enjoy... and feel free to advise or inform.

Hi Mark,
I'm thrilled ! Woot
That are definitely RS (Dr Rudolf Spitaler) models. ThumpUp
It are the RS models #6540 and #6543.

But it are not pre-war models, but very nice 1950s models.

I have some RS catalogs, RS had its own catalogs but RS models were also listed in some 1950s Kibri catalogs.

I will try to share some RS catalogs here in this thread within a few minutes or so ...

Marco

Hi Mark,

I hope this works...
Can you download the catalogs from here ??
I will leave the 2 files here for a couple of days and then delete them.

EDIT 1 June 2015: I deleted the download links / Marco

These old cardboard buildings have a charm all their own. I would not say they are better or worse than the later plastic buildings nor the recent laser etch buildings, just different and special because of that difference.

Era 3
DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe
But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Hi Marco

Thanks for the catalogs. I have 2 old model buildings which I tried to identify from your catalogs. The one is easily identifiable as it still has its model number (RS 6670) underneath so I was able to find it in the Kibri catalog. Unfortunately this item is not in very good condition when compared to the illustration and must have been modified by a previous owner. I have included pictures below.

The other building is a church, pictured below, which has no markings underneath but is in better condition - only the spire on the top of the steeple is broken. Do you perhaps know which manufacturer made this building?

Thanks
Mike

Here are the photographs that should have been attached to the previous post

The above 2 images are for the RS 6670 building

The above 2 photos are of the church

Hi Mike,

I just saw your post, apologies for the late reply.

Your church is Faller #241, the "Sils-Maria" church, the 1:1 prototype can be found in Engadin Switzerland.
The model was available in 2 versions: #241 with an electric bell and the #242 with no bell.
It's a cult model, beloved by many Faller collectors.

It was in the Faller program from 1953 to 1961 as 'Fertigmodell', an allready build model by Faller homeworkers.

Marco

EDIT: The Sils-Maria church was on the cover of the 1953 catalog, see screenshot(s) ...

Thanks Marco

I have the #242 building without the electric bell. I just wonder why you refer to the church as the "Sils-Maria" church. In the description in the Faller catalogue the prototype is from Fextal in Engadine, Switzerland.

Mike,

The 1:1 prototype is in Sils-Maria and some Faller catalogs do indeed refer to 'Sils-Maria"

If you google it, you will find many pictures of the prototype, try something like "Sils Maria Kirche im Engadin"

Forum member Wolfgang runs a great website on vintage Marklin and Faller and alike, he has a nice page on the Faller #241/242, see here:
