Hi All,

I have an existing layout with 74490 turnout mechanisms. Two are faulty but the 74490 does not seem to be available as a new part.
Is the 74491 a replacement for the 74490?

Thanks in anticipation.

Yes the 74491 is the replacement.
However, if it is an issue that they only switch one way, you may be able to salvage the motors.

Ther are several posts describing the issue and the workaround well. Do a search or maybe some members know how to post the links.

The most common problem is that the end travel relay switches are easily fried. You can jumper them, particularly if you operate the switches with a digital system. If you use an analogue push buttons, you may be at greater risk to fry the motor itself if you lean on the buttons too long.

I have jumpered several switch motor end stop relays and enjoyed many years of operation since then.
