I have recently purchased freight cars from the set 29442 and note the same types of cars are offered in the set 29548. Of recent times, M's practice has been to issue cars in different sets with different road numbers but I have not seen them this identical before. Can anyone tell me the road numbers on the freight cars for 29548?

Regards,

Michael.

Many thanks Tom - it is as I feared - the numbering is the same. On the one hand, I am not surprised but on the other a little disappointed. I am one of those numbering nerds that do not like having the same vehicle on the track! LOL

I don't like that either. I like long trains - and sometimes I take the compromise of doubled or tripled numbers in order to get a long train.
It's easier to accept that compromise if you can get affordable cars from split starter sets.

I am still awaiting the next release of era III H10 wagons with wither steel pipe loads or logs. The only duplication of numbers I have is my existing set from 1984 2854 where each of the 6 H10 flat cars has the same number - I would hate to see M return to that! At least the guards van was a different number.

I rechecked the numbering of the 29442 wagons and sure enough;

29442 Mega-Set freight train

We will continue to monitor...

The same can be said of the steamer 03 244 which was released in 2013 as #37956 and is identical with #29548.
