New distributor for LGB, Märklin, and Trix products

Posted on April 7, 2015

Gebr. Märklin & Cie. GmbH, Göppingen, Germany, and their North American subsidiary Märklin, Inc. are pleased to announce the addition of Heartland Hobby Wholesale as distributor for Märklin, Trix and LGB electric model trains and accessories in North America.

Heartland Hobby Wholesale, founded in 1993 in Lincoln, Nebraska, is one of the largest distributors of model trains in the United States. Heartland will handle sales, distribution and warehousing for Märklin, Trix and LGB.
In addition to Heartland, Märklin’s long-time distributor Walthers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will continue to sell Märklin, LGB, and Trix products.

For more information, visit their website at www.marklin.com.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

New distributor for LGB, Märklin, and Trix products.......

Of course there will be distributors just as bad (or as good) as Walthers. They are not the problem.
I have always found Walthers responsive, and efficient, and so do the hobby shops here in Australia who deal with them.

The problem is when you deal with a second-string product like Marklin (which it is in North America) there will always be problems over stock, schedules, and delivery.
The financing of an operation like Walthers, requires stock turns (how long it takes to sell....) far in excess of what it takes to sell Marklin.
Whereas stuff like Athearn, Atlas, Bachmann, Roundhouse, Rapido, et al provides the cash flow to keep the operation running.

regards
Kimball
