The Maerklin.com page describing the 37835 Steam class BR50 Cabin Tender mentions that "A tank car set to go with this steam freight locomotive can be found under item number 46536". This reference is not yet in the database.

37016 will be in normal grey loco box, No wooden box.

37016 detail -

Quote:
Prototype: Bavarian class S 2/6 steam express locomotive in a black/red basic paint scheme as the German State Railroad Company (DRG) class 15. Locomotive road number 15 001. The locomotive looks as it did around 1925.

Model: The locomotive has an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It also has controlled high-efficiency propulsion. 2 axles powered. Traction tires. The 72270 smoke unit can be installed in the locomotive. The dual headlights change over with the direction of travel. They and the smoke unit that can be installed in the locomotive will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The headlight for oncoming trains and the cab lighting can be controlled in digital operation. Maintenance-free warm white LEDs are used for the lighting. The locomotive has detailed running gear with a partially open bar frame. The locomotive is modeled to show streamlined sheathing of the smoke box, smoke stack, dome, and cylinder group as well as the streamlined cab. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender. A close coupler with a guide mechanism and an NEM pocket is mounted on the rear of the tender. The minimum radius for operation is 360 mm / 14-3/16". Protective sleeves for the piston rods are included separately. Length over the buffers 25.1 cm / 9-7/8".

Highlights:

•Completely new tooling for the class S 2/6.
•Very finely detailed construction.
•Prototypical detail changes.
•Locomotive and tender constructed mostly of metal.
•mfx decoder with extensive light and sound functions.

One-time series.

Hi Alan,

They didn't make any Marklin coaches for the S2/6 either. I bought the Trix ones which were a good match.

I suppose any DRG Era II coaches will do for the Br15, or you could run it with the Orient Express coaches from the Main 2015 selection.

And did the 2/6 ever wear Black and Red, it still has red wheels tho to this day Wink Smile

The nicest little combo I see is the V80 and the Thunderbox cars with LEDs ThumpUp

The 01 is interesting but what will it's motor be ?????RollEyes Bored And what price for 1/999 Scared

Ok the EP3/6 looks very nice too, as does the 3 axle car set, Drool but I'm supposed to be modelling Era III, aren't I Blushing Confused
so I'll go the V80 and Thunderboxes, yeah boring I know Flapper but at least, I don't have a V80 Blushing

That said, I've heard a lot of earlier model Marklin 3 axle cars give trouble on turnouts, but then you don't believe what you've heard or do you RollEyes

The V80 is interesting, but I do not know about the current conducting couplers. At first glace they seem appealing, but I had Swedish set 28703 where the loko had current conducting couplers. No matter what I did I could not stop the lamp flicker in the coaches, a problem when you directly use the switched output of a decoder and the rails as the positive return and not the common positive of the decoder. Perhaps they are switching center rail through a relay to the couplers, then all you need is a bridge rectifier in the coaches to stop lamp flicker, but I doubt they did.

The added light functions and sound though do make the V80 quite tempting. I have two of the older V80s (with Trix MTC21 circuit boards so I could install LoPi decoders) and they seem pretty plain compared to this new version.

The four new era 3 steam engines, very nice, but I have several versions of each and like Glen I question what motor these will come with.

Era 3
DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe
But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Hi Glen

I am experiencing trouble with modern day Brawa three axle coaches on my layouts R1 curves and turnouts. I assume three axle wagons is not friendly towards R1 curves and turnouts. They will not be on my shopping list.

Thanx Steven - I must say I fancy that S 2/6 - 37016 - Will it be in the same price range as 37015 do you think??
Thanks for all the updates....ThumpUp
Joe

Check the Euro price on the German version of the brochure. I always grab a copy of the German version of the various brochures so i can get a feel for the prices in Euros, and figure how that is going to translate into the local currency.

Hi Glen

I am experiencing trouble with modern day Brawa three axle coaches on my layouts R1 curves and turnouts. I assume three axle wagons is not friendly towards R1 curves and turnouts. They will not be on my shopping list.

Regards

Hi Marius,

I have several Marklin 3 axle coaches of both the early Prussian types and the rebuilt DB types. All go perfectly through my C track R1 curves, curved and straight turnouts.

I can't speak for other brands, but if you get the proper wheels for them they should also work OK with Marklin track of all radii. Are you using your Brawa wagons with original DC wheels or replacement AC types?

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

One thing I like about Marklin is how humble they are:

Fascination that Comes from Perfection

What Does Märklin Quality Really Mean?
Märklin products were and are technical tours de force
before which engineers and other experts tip their hats.
They are unique in their kind. They are proof of the highest
level of technical ability and of technical perfection that
their peers seek. The creative standard is high and com bines
a wealth of detail and sturdiness into one.

A bit of a hyperbole, you said? OhMyGod

Oh dear, I've been a naughty boy again......... just placed a order for a 39007 for €339.

About €30 less than I paid for the S2/6.

Just have to hope the Aussie dollar doesn't go down the toilet before it hits the shops. Sad

Sad when its cheaper to buy a new 29640 starter set from Germany than a CS2 on its own in Oz, welcome to the joys of Marklin down under .
